IIT Gandhinagar to Organize Camp Inspire 2022 for School Students on Alternative Passions, Career Choices

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Gandhinagar is now preparing to host an online camp for school students of classes 8th to 12th on Alternative Passions and Career Choices. The camp will be organized by the Curiosity Lab of the institute from June 03 to 05, 2022. 

As per IIT Gandhinagar, the online camp will introduce students to alternative passions and career choices, and learn about inspiring individuals and their stories of success. With this initiative, the institute wishes to inspire and motivate students in various career fields. 

The campus will be organized for a duration of two days through online mode. Interested students, parents, teachers, and education scholars who wish to join the event can now submit their registrations for the same on the IIT Gandhinagar's website at curiositylab.iitgn.ac.in/camp. 

Prof. Jaison A Manjaly, Principal Investigator, IIT Gandhinagar, said, “Curiosity Camps offer an opportunity for students, teachers, and parents to witness stories of inspiring individuals that may encourage them to follow their passions and make a positive change in society".

Informing about the various aspects of Camp Inspire, he further added, "The Curiosity Camps aim to introduce novel perspectives in learning while building awareness of the multiple career paths that exist and are supported by institutions such as the IITs". 

The camp will introduce students to various opportunities that lie ahead in Arts, Humanities, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine) fields. With this, students and education scholars will learn about unique passions, career fields, and career possibilities. 

In addition to this, the camp will also include a story session where inspiring stories of people who have taken new career paths and exciting professions in their life will be shared. The stories will encourage students that career opportunities are everywhere. 

Through IIT Gandhinagar Camp, the institute will create opportunities for participants to interact with experienced faculty members and learn about various fields including sports, gender, music research, entrepreneurship, STEM, and economics among others. 

As per IIT Gandhinagar, the camp schedule will include sessions on Involvement and Importance of Youth in Conserving the Nation's Environment, Ancient India’s archaeology and history, and a session called "From Puzzles to Problems: Fun with STEM" on June 03, 2022. 

On June 04, 2022, the camp will be held from 11:00 am to 06:15 pm and will include sessions on Launching spacecraft for Earth, Mars and Beyond, Exploring Gender and Identity in India, and Balancing passions (My journey through academia and sports).

Some of the prominent speakers such as Dr. Michel Danino, Visiting Professor, IIT Gandhinagar; Dr. Neeldhara Misra, Smt. Amba & Sri. V S Sastri Chair Associate Professor, and Dr. Neaketa Chawla, Postdoctoral Research Associate, IIM Ahmedabad will join the event.
