The primary aim of this joint collaboration between IITG TIDF and IRS is to organise training and certification programmes along with workshops related to the theme of underwater technology.

As explained by the institute, the goal of this initiative is to develop qualified human resources and research personnel with skills in underwater technologies, design and manufacturing, relevant to the industry.

In addition to developing technology, we are working on skill development. It is our pleasure to work with the IRS on training, design and manufacturing,” as stated by Dr. TG Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati.

Asokendu Samanta, the Vice President and Divisional Head of Research and Development at the IRS also has commented on this joint collaboration.

This collaborative effort allows us to expand our training and certification programmes as we look to build key skills in a rapidly developing area of the industry”, as stated by Mr. Samanta.

He also has highlighted the fact that both the institutes are looking forward to work closely with each other and share their own expertises for further benefits.

As per the MoU, the institutes will attempt to create more new opportunities for industry and academia by continuing cutting-edge, modern research to develop useful technology and more professional skills.

The Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) on Underwater Exploration by the National Mission of Cyber-Physical Systems, is also a key project for the company.

Recently, IIT Guwahati collaborated with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited to design and create a highly efficient carbon dioxide capture facility for the power plants.

As per IITG, this technology will help the natural gas and petroleum refineries and some other industries in fighting global climate change. The research team, supervised by Bishnupada Mandal, IIT Guwahati Department of Chemical Engineering, has come up with this unique technique.
