New Delhi: IIT Guwahati will host the North-Eastern Research Conclave (NERC-2022) to promote collaboration between industry and academics between May 20 and 22. In collaboration with the Government of Assam's Science, Technology, and Climate Change Department and the Department of Education the event will be organised.
R&D Exhibitions, brainstorming sessions, entrepreneur summits, sensitising school children to pursue research as a career choice, and lectures by scientists, industry professionals, and policymakers will be among the events scheduled for the three-day conclave in IIT Guwahati.
Around 3,000 renowned people from the eight North-East states and other regions of India are expected to attend NERC-2022. They will come from a variety of backgrounds, including business, academics, start-ups, research councils, public sector undertakings, labs, and technical institutes, as well as schools and colleges in the northeast.
Along with Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, minister of development of the northeast region G Kishan Reddy, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries are going to preside over the event.

Emphasising the importance of the conference, IIT Guwahati Director TG Sitharam said, “In a bid to boost scientific research and innovation ecosystem in northeast region, NERC-2022 is being organized at Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. We welcome scientists, researchers, policymakers, administrators and Governments to participate to increase the research activities in the northeast which has great potential in terms of resources and people. Focus of this conclave is primarily to strengthen R&D handholding among all the stakeholders of Northeast India and to benefit the local people of the region through research, innovation and startup”.
NERC-2022 will also host the third edition of the Assam Biotech Conclave. It will bring together biotech entrepreneurs, industry leaders, researchers, academicians, government representatives, policymakers, innovators, and investors to explore the possibilities of biotechnology in North East India and to discuss new opportunities in the transition.
