IIT-Hyderabad And NISER-Bhubaneswar To Host Nine Day International Workshop on 'Advanced Functional Analysis'

Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) in collaboration with NISER, Bhubaneswar will be organizing a nine-day international workshop on ‘Advanced Functional Analysis and its Application-2020’ from December 16- December 24, 2020.

People from around the globe have been invited to address this event hosted by IIT, Hyderabad in association with NISER Bhubaneswar

The topic of ‘Analysis on Banach Spaces’ will be put into the spotlight. The event at IIT Hyderabad is going to be held online and the organizers are interested in reaching out to the participants virtually in their fields of interests and requirements.

The major aim of the workshop at IIT Hyderabad is to cover some advanced topics in Functional Analysis at its introductory level.

The subject of Functional Analysis can be studied on one’s own interest keeping aside the application point of view.

The subject has advanced and expanded in several directions today from the time of Joseph Fourier.

The book “History of Functional Analysis’ by J Dieudonne discusses the evolution of this subject.

Candidates interested to be a part of this conference at IIT Hyderabad can register themselves online till the last date of registration which is November 30, 2020.

Dr. Tanmoy Paul (Conference Coordinator and Assistant Professor from the Department of Mathematics, IIT Hyderabad) highlighted the importance of the workshop.

Paul states that the main aim of the event is to provide some advanced topics in functional analysis and mainly emphasize on Banach spaces.

The theory has a long heritage and culture till now from the time of Stephan Banach. The profuseness of the theory has attracted several people to work in it, stated Dr. Paul.

He added that the handbook of Geometry of Banach Spaces (I & II) encounters the progress of the Literature in the past years and the team aims to offer a few topics from this domain that are relevant to the current research scenario.
