New Delhi: The technology incubator of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boehringer Ingelheim India to support socially impactful innovations.
Boehringer Ingelheim will assist Lenek Technologies, one of the startups housed at SIIC, IIT Kanpur, as part of this collaboration. By enhancing the screening procedure with its cutting-edge handheld X-ray device, Lenek Technologies seeks to eliminate tuberculosis (TB). This device has the potential to significantly alter TB screening in areas with limited resources.
The primary goal of this collaboration is to provide support for nationally important innovations created at SIIC, IIT Kanpur, with a focus on healthcare solutions that use technology to improve patient lives. The emphasis will be on innovations with a positive societal impact that have the potential to fundamentally alter the healthcare sector.
Expressing his delight about the partnership, IIT Kanpur Director Professor Abhay Karandikar said that as a part of the effort to support innovations that have a positive social effect, the institute is pleased to collaborate with Boehringer Ingelheim India, a leader in pharmaceutical innovation worldwide.
The power of collaboration between academia and industry in fostering innovation and making a beneficial social effect is demonstrated by this Memorandum of Understanding.
Further, he added that with this partnership, the institute hopes to leverage their collective expertise and resources to nurture and promote innovative concepts that can result in important societal changes.
Speaking about the collaboration, Prof. Sharma said that this association is a major step towards the institute's shared goal of supporting startups with a positive social effect that can bring about positive change in society.
