Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, has collaborated with the Institute of Engineering (IOE) at Tribhuvan University (TU), Nepal, to offer M.Tech and Ph.D courses to the students of Nepal.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between IIT Kanpur and IOE, Nepal to provide academic cooperation and research partnership.
As a part of the MoU, IIT Kanpur will provide opportunities to engineering and technology students of Nepal to pursue M.Tech and Ph.D courses. Besides, the students of IITK will also get a chance to visit Nepal for the purpose of research and teaching.
Yogesh Joshi, Dean of International Relations, IIT Kanpur and Shashidhar Joshi, Dean of Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University signed the MoU.
There's a long history of mutual cooperation between IIT Kanpur and Tribhuvan University. With the new MoU, it is believed to further strengthen the partnership between both institutions

The signing ceremony took place, when a delegation from Tribhuvan University, including Sushil B Bajracharya, vice-dean, IOE, Peshal Dahal, registrar, TU, Triratna Bajracharya, Bhola Ghimire and Indra Acharya visited the institute.
According to the MoU, IIT Kanpur and IOE will cooperate together to promote science, engineering and humanities education in the exchange of faculty and researchers, exchange of students, joint research and joint activities.
Further, IIT Kanpur will get the advantage of using Nepal’s technology, while the nepali students will get the opportunity to use the resources of IIT Kanpur.
The delegation went on a tour to the facilities offered at IIT Kanpur, during its visit to the campus. Apart from that, the. delegates visited the Environmental Science building (thermal storage and air conditioning facilities), the Centre for Energy Regulation, and the laboratories of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The delegates were also taken to witness the airstrip and the Flight Lab facilities at IIT Kanpur.
Located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Tribhuvan University is a public university and In terms of enrollment, it is the 12th largest university in the world. Nearly 2,079 undergraduate and 2,089 postgraduate programs across a wide range of streams are offered at the University.
In addition, around 115 courses for the technical proficiency certificate level, 1079 courses at Bachelor's level and 1000 courses at the Master's level are offered at TU. Meanwhile, the PhD degree programmes are offered in the technical institutes and faculties.
As a part of the MoU, both IIT Kanpur and Tribhuvan University are now looking forward to a productive colloquium and conducting joint activities to implement their objectives.
