IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad Incubated EdTech Start Up GUVI Launches Platform for Job Seekers

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad-incubated startup GUVI has introduced a new platform to assist in addressing the issues faced by job searchers. The platform is available to job seekers at no cost.

As per IIT Madras, the initiative's goal is to help students succeed in their aptitude preparations so they can get placed. By offering self-paced tech courses, career plans through ZEN classes, and other locally relevant EdTech services, GUVI supports job seekers for IT and software positions.

The startup provides students with a platform where they can study in their native tongue. Additionally, it provides specialised IT courses to help students advance their skills and prepare for the workforce. Aspirants can practise aptitude topics for free on a portal created by GUVI to help them prepare for placements.

Informing about the initiative, Arun Prakash, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GUVI, said, “Due to lack of time and money, people in India do not have access to quality placement preparation resources".

"We wanted to create a platform that promoted equitable access to education. We aim to provide comprehensive quality resources to assist students to prepare for their dream careers", he added.

In other news, IIT Madras researchers study increasing CO2 emissions from buildings. The research was done to address the issue of rising carbon dioxide emissions brought on by the development of buildings.

The researchers hypothesised that transitioning to renewable energy sources for building operational needs would aid in lowering emissions. The research team proposed replacing traditional cement with low-carbon cement and reusing demolition waste for future construction.

In addition to this, the researchers suggested switching to renewable resources to meet the energy requirements of operating buildings. IIT Madras researchers discovered that switching to alternative energy sources was the single biggest factor in lowering emissions.
