IIT Madras

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras has launched a new minor programme in Personal and Professional Development. Undergraduate students must complete a set of courses to fulfil the requirement of minoring in the stream.

As per IT Madras, the student's personal and professional development is the main focus of the courses in this stream. The proposal to launch a minor course in personal and professional development was recently approved by the IIT Madras Senate.

The institute already provides a number of programs aimed at fostering leadership development and professional and personal growth. Each year, approximately 1,500 students sign-up for these courses.

With this initiative, the institute aims to change student culture, talent and leadership and achieve holistically. The overall personal and professional growth will be strengthened by the addition of the new minor stream.

The minor stream program is open to all BTech and dual degree students, and regardless of the program they are enrolled in, all IIT Madras students may take the courses provided under this programme as electives.

Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasised the significance of these programs by stating that they "help realise the inner (human) drive to actualise one's full potential through self-discovery, self-awareness, self-leadership, and self-mastery."

These initiatives are specifically supposed to have a positive effect on how our students think. Professional development programs aim to satisfy the diverse career objectives of students by fostering the development of interpersonal and transferable skills.

In this stream, students can select from a wide range of courses, including those on self-awareness, success and happiness habits, flow for high performance, systems thinking and discovering creativity.
