IIT Madras Organises the G20 University Connect Lecture Series

New Delhi:  The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras organised the G20 University Connect Lecture Series entitled "Engaging Young Minds" on January 24, 2023(today). This meeting is part of India's Presidency of the G20, an international conference of the world's 19 leading industrialised and developing nations plus the European Union.

The G20 University Connect was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is currently jointly hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Government of India, and the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), an independent centre for policy research with offices in New Delhi.

Engaging students from 75 universities is the goal, which will take place in 56 different sites around India.

Seshadri Chari, a part of the Governing Board and Governing Council of RIS, addressed the group of schoolchildren and academics gathered on the IIT Madras campus today and stated, "India's view has always been that everyone should profit from breakthroughs rather than stockpile information.”

He continued, “India created vaccinations even amid the coronavirus crisis, some of which were distributed to other countries. The nation provided vaccines to any nation that requested them, with certain nations receiving them even at no cost.”

He said, “In keeping with our propensity to see the outside world as an extension of ourselves, we are enthusiastic about the development of technology.”

The G20 has a statement for the globe, he declared. We must develop as a community since the issues we confront affect us all. One earth, One family, One future is India's appeal to the rest of the world.

This nationwide lecture marathon's goal is to involve young people in the G20 process and make them aware of the implications of the discussions that will take place while India holds the G20 presidency for them.

The University Connect series will be carried out through lectures, a mock G20, and other interactive events that will encourage students to participate in the G20 process.
