IIT Madras PhD & MS (by Research) Admission 2023 Open; Last Date to Apply Extended till April 07

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has begun the application process for the PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission July 2023 Semester. Interested candidates can apply online through the official portal, @research.iitm.ac.in.

IIT Madras has allotted total 323 PhD seats with HTRA whereas there are 144 seats for MSC (by Research) programme. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD & MS (by Research) programme can submit their applications till April 07, 2023. Admission to the research-based doctoral PhD and MS programmes will be based on marks obtained in the Written exam and Interview conducted by the institute.

The department will release an intimation regarding the “written test and interview” or “interview” indicating the date, time & venue through email to the shortlisted candidates.

IIT Madras PhD & MS Admission 2023: Highlights 

All the Scholars admitted to PhD and MS programmes under Regular scheme are eligible for the Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA). The PhD Candidates will get INR 31,000 /- Per Month, while MS (By Research) candidates will receive INR 12,400 Per Month. In order to earn the assistantship, Candidates will be required to work for 8 hours per week.

IIT Madras PhD & MS Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are willing to get admission to PhD programmes will need to fulfil the requisite eligibility criteria.

M.S. (Research):

• Candidates must hold a B.E/B.Tech degree in the relevant discipline
• Candidates with MFT (Major Field Test) are also eligible..

Ph.D:

• Candidates must hold Master or a dual degree in the relevant disciplines with a CGPA of 6.5 or above.
• Candidates must have a B.E/B.Tech degree pursue a Ph.D. (M.S+Ph.D.) in Engineering or Sciences after their Bachelor’s degree. 
• Meritorious M.S scholars with CGPA>8.0 are eligible to apply for the Ph.D. program in the same department. They will receive a dual degree i.e. (M.S+Ph.D.) after the completion of the program. 

IIT Madras PhD & MS Admission 2023: Selection Process

• Candidate's selection to the Ph.D. programs will be based on the valid Score in CSIR NET UGC NET, or JRF is required while for MS (By Research) program a good score in GATE is mandatory.
• For research courses in the field of Management, candidates must hold an MBA degree with a valid JRF or NET score.

Step 1: Go to the official application portal of IIT Madras @https://research.iitm.ac.in/

Step 2: Next, fill in the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc and register yourself.

Step 3: Now, login using your registration credentials and fill the Application form.

Step 4: After completing the form, Pay the application fee and submit the Application form.

Step 5: Take a print out of the form and save it for all future needs.
