The engineering community chose Professor Sujith as a result of his contributions to engineering field "for applications of dynamical systems theory to the study and control of instabilities in engineering systems".

Professor Sujith currently holds the D. Srinivasan Chair Professor position at the IITM Department of Aerospace Engineering. He is the second Indian to be elected to the National Academy of Engineering's Aerospace Section.

One of the highest professional honours bestowed upon an engineer is election to the US National Academy of Engineering. Expressing his happiness at the accomplishment, Prof RI Sujith said that he feels honored to have been elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering. ṁ

He thanked all my teachers, students and collaborators, IIT Madras administration, the scientific community, and my family that have supported me during my career.

Professor RI Sujith is an IIT Madras graduate who received his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1988. Further, he graduated with an M. S. degree in 1990 and a Ph. D. in 1994, from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA.

Meanwhile, Prof. Madhav Marathe, Division Director of Network Systems Science and Advanced Computing (NSSAC) and Distinguished Professor in Biocomplexity at the University of Virginia, congratulated Prof RI Sujith on his accomplishment.

Prof. RI Sujith is the second Indian to be elected to the Aerospace Section of the National Academy of Engineering after Dr. B.
