IIT Mandi Awards Degrees to 462 Graduating Students At 10th Convocation; Read Details Here


New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi conducted its tenth convocation on December 5, 2022, with a graduating class of 462 students, including 348 men and 114 women. The institute awarded 64 PhD degrees this year, which is the most PhDs the institute has ever awarded in a single academic year.

As per IIT Mandi, there were more female students graduating from many streams. IIT Mandi has graduated more female students this year than in prior years, with a total of 33 graduating from the undergraduate, 49 from master's and postgraduate programmes, 28 from PhD, and 4 from the iPhD programme.

Additionally, a total of 59 students obtained PhDs and 5 received iPhDs degrees among the students who received PhD awards, while 29 people received an MS in research degree during the IIT Mandi 10th Convocation 2022.

A total of 76 students received MTech degrees, including 14 in electrical engineering with a specialisation in VLSI, 12 in biotechnology, 4 in communications and signal processing, 10 in mechanical engineering with a focus on energy systems, 11 in structural engineering, 13 in power electronics and drives, and 12 in energy engineering with a focus on materials.

95 students received MSc degrees, including 25 in physics, 39 in chemistry, and 31 in applied mathematics. The MA in development studies degree was awarded to ten students and 188 students received BTech degrees, including 20 in civil engineering, 59 in mechanical engineering, 23 in electrical engineering, and 86 in computer science and engineering.

In addition, two students were awarded gold medals: Piyush Goyal, a student in the BTech computer science and engineering programme, earned the President of India gold medal, while Bhumanyu Goyal was awarded the Director's gold medal.

IIT Mandi Director Professor Laxmidhar Behera congratulated the graduating class and stated, “I wish my heartiest greetings to all our graduating students. They will become the torch bearer of the Institute. I am sure that their professional competencies and uncompromising character will empower them to lead society in various ways. Their success will also be the success of IIT Mandi".
