IIT Patna Introduces New B.Tech, BS Programs from 2021; Details Here


The Indian Institute of Technology Patna has introduced three new Bachelor of Technology programmes in three specializations including Artificial Intelligence and data science, Engineering Physics, and BS in mathematics and computing from the academic year 2021-22. 

According to the HT reports, the IIT Patna will admit the candidates into these BTech programmes through JEE Advanced 2021 score, announced on October 15, 2021. 

IIT Patna has set up new engineering courses in order to meet the rising demand for new-age technology advancements and professionals from these areas. 

Speaking about the new B.Tech courses, Rajendra Paramanik, professor in charge of public relations of HT, said that the institution has allotted 36 seats each for admissions into Engineering Physics, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and 48 for BS in Mathematics and Computing.

According to the HT reports, Pramanik said that there's a rise in the number of seats and that the institute has increased its seats to 547 compared to the previous year’s 427 by adding these programmes and around 10% of supernumerary seats have been reserved for foreign candidates.

Further, the authorities explained the details of the newly introduced engineering programmes in detail and said that BTech in data science and artificial intelligence subjects will make students understand the handling of huge data volumes, while engineering physics, a blend of engineering, physics and mathematics.

In contrast, the institute has designed the Mathematics and computing course by combining mathematical and analytical components.

Meanwhile, the IIT Patna already offers BTech programmes in various specializations, including computer science and engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and metallurgical and materials.
