In order to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation, IIT Ropar, in coordination with The State University of New York(SUNY), Binghamton conducted an online lecture session on the teachings of the great man.
The online lecture was organised by IIT Ropar on August 11, at 5 pm.
The main focus of the session was the relevance of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi in contemporary times. The views of Rev Martin Luther King and his learnings of Satyagraha and Ahimsa were also discussed in the session.

The aim of the lecture was to enlighten the youngsters of today’s world on the various teachings and views of Mahatma Gandhi and Rev Martin Luther King.
The lecture started off with a presentation by the Director of IIT Ropar, Prof Sarit K Das and the President of SUNY-Binghamton, Prof Harvey G Stenger. They were followed by Prof Bijoy Baruah , Department of HSS, IIT Ropar, who spoke on the relevance of Gandhi’s teachings in the present times. Provost Donald G Nieman from SUNY talked on the common views shared by Mahatma Gandhi and Rev Martin Luther King. The closing speech was given by Prof K Srihari, Executive Vice Provost for International Education and Global Affairs at SUNY
