JEE Main 2023 January Session Day 1 Shift 1 Exam Begins: Check Latest Updates Here


New Delhi: National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the commencement of JEE Main 2023 Session 1 Exam for all registered candidates from today i.e, January 24, 2023. The shift 1 exam is now being held from 9:00 am and the shift 2 exam will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. 

Candidates who have registered to appear for JEE Main 2023 Phase 1 Exam are required to reach their allotted exam centers at least two hours before the exam. They have to carry their admit card, self-declaration form and identity proof for a verification process at the exam venue. 

Earlier, the NTA released the JEE Main 2023 Admit Card for all registered candidates for the January session on its official website. Additionally, the JEE Main 2023 City Intimation Slip was released on January 18 with details about the candidate's exam city.

Registered candidates must note that they can only carry the documents and exam materials inside the exam hall which have been approved by the exam authority. Any gadgets or electronic devices will not be allowed inside the JEE Main 2023 Exam Center

Those who will appear for JEE Main 2023 Shift 2 exam will have to report at their respective exam center between 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. After which, the invigilator will check and verify the identity of candidates and only after the successful verification, they can enter the exam hall. 

Candidates are directed to follow the guidelines mentioned in JEE Main 2023 admit card to prevent any last-minute errors. In case of any discrepancy in admit card, they can reach out to the helpline number of NTA at 0120-6895200, 011-40759000, or email at jeemain@nta.ac.in.

JEE Main 2023: Maths in shift 1 “lengthy”, “difficult”

In the morning shift of JEE Main 2023 session 1, the mathematics section was lengthy and diffucult, according to Saurabh Kumar, Chief Academics Officer (CAO), Vidyamandir Classes (VMC).

According to Saurabh Kumar, Chief Academics Officer (CAO), Vidyamandir Classes (VMC), many questions were asked from Thermodynamics, Semiconductor and Kinematics in the Physics section. 

NTA JEE Mains: Shift 1 analysis

NTA JEE Mains Shift 1 exam analysis as per students who appeared for the exam is that the difficulty level is similar to last year. Last year the examination difficulty level was moderate to easy.

JEE Main 2023 paper 1: Difficulty level

In terms of order of difficulty – Mathematics was Moderate, Chemistry was Easy to Moderate, while Physics was Easy. Overall, this paper was of Moderate level as per students.

  • Handbag/ Purse
  • Smartwatches
  • Any written texts
  • Camera and tape recorder
  • Microphones and Pagers
  • Eatables/ Coffee or any other drinks/ Water (except for diabetic patients)
JEE Main 2023: Exam Day Guidelines & Important Points to Remember

Candidates who are preparing to appear for the exam must print a copy of the JEE Main 2023 admit card along with the JEE self-declaration (Undertaking) downloaded from the NTA Website duly filled in. They should also carry a government-approved identity card at exam center.

Before the exam, candidates will have to go through an identity verification process at their allotted exam center. They are required to carry their documents which have their clear photographs and their signature should be clearly visible.

Documents to Carry at JEE Main Exam Center 2023

Candidates can carry the below-mentioned documents and things at their respective JEE Main 2023 exam centres: 

  • Passport-sized photograph (same as the one used in the application form)
  • Photo ID proof like Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card, Driving License
  • A copy of JEE Main 2023 undertaking/ self-declaration
  • PwD certificate, if applicable
  • Sanitizer and Face Mask
  • Transparent water bottle
  • For JEE Main Paper 2A (B.Arch), you need to bring your own pencil, eraser, geometry box set, clipboard, and color pencils/crayons for the drawing test.
