JGU: 100 new fellowships launched for Master's & PhD graduates; Learn more


O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has announced an ambitious policy initiative to establish an academic career program for its 2020 batch of 100 JGU students (Master's and PhD) to earn lucrative university Fellowships.

The 100 Teaching & Research Fellowships for Intellectual Pursuit (TRIP) provides students with the opportunity to obtain holistic academic experience through a two-year fellowship program to improve their analytical & research capacities, theoretical skills, teaching skills and a pedagogical understanding of the learning environment.

The TRIP Fellowships will assist JGU 's 2020 students from the Master's and PhD programs financially in creating paths to a career in academia that will also help to address the uncertainty in student career trajectories created by the coronavirus pandemic.

JGU had previously announced 100 GRIP Scholarships (Graduate Research Immersion Program) for all JGU graduate students to concentrate on study and academic mentoring for young and aspiring researchers. In total, the university has announced 200 such Fellowships to the benefit of the 2020 graduating class.

"In the midst of the current global crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are aware of the challenge facing university graduates in India and around the world," said Professor (Dr.) C Raj Kumar founding Vice Chancellor O.P. Jindal University.

JGU's decision to give JGU's 2020 graduates 100 new Fellowships from its Master's and Doctoral programs is a groundbreaking higher education initiative which will invest in the future of young and talented academics and research scholars.

To some of JGU's outstanding students, the Teaching & Research to Intellectual Pursuit (TRIP) Fellowship program will lay the groundwork for seeking a rewarding career in academia.

The 100 TRIP Fellowships we announced today and the 100 GRIP Scholarships we announced earlier are part of an initiative to help the 2020 graduate batch find meaningful ways to participate in research with a view to inspiring next-general scholars, researchers and teachers to grow, "said Professor Kumar.

The Fellowship will help the students advance their overall career by providing them with opportunities to pursue academic careers as TRIP Fellows & Academic Tutors.

The announcement of the TRIP Fellowship is a groundbreaking initiative, which will provide an excellent opportunity to work closely with the outstanding global faculty members of JGU to understand and appreciate the complexities of curriculum growth, student engagement, and grow their knowledge and expertise on various pedagogical approaches.

The TRIP Fellowships will assist JGU 's academic and science-inclined students in further improving their research skills and generating world standard journal papers and publications collaborating with JGU 's leading scholars and researchers.

It will also be contributing to the agenda of producing high-quality academics and scholars in law, management, social sciences and humanities for Indian and global higher education institutions.

The TRIP Fellowship is a two-year programme, starting in October 2020.

The TRIP Fellows & Academic Tutors will be drawn from the Master's students who graduate in 2020 and from the PhD students who have successfully completed their thesis defence through a competitive process.

Following the successful completion of the TRIP Fellowship obligations, the TRIP Fellows & Academic Tutors will be regarded as Assistant Lecturer in JGU and may form part of the JGU faculties

With "Autonomy," JGU was awarded the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) by the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for obtaining the then highest "A" grade.

This makes JGU the first private university in Haryana state to be granted autonomy status, and one of the first two private universities in India.
