On December 03, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand stated that he has urged the Centre to dismiss the ban on students’ admission in the three new medical colleges of the state claiming that the infrastructural inadequacy would be rectified by December 15.
The three medical colleges in Dumka, Hazaribagh, and Palamu that were inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi last year were not allowed to take admissions this year. The National Medical Council (NMC) had asked the authorities of these three colleges to not admit students for the academic session of 2020-21 due to the inadequate infrastructural facilities.

The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Mr. Hemant Soren had last month requested the NMC to revoke this ban.
CM Hemant Soren had tweeted, “Further to my previous appeal to #NMC to reconsider the decision to stop fresh admission of students in the 3 Medical Colleges of Hazaribagh, Palamu, and Dumka, I have spoken to Union Health Minister @drharshvardhan’ji & requested him to take timely consideration for students' future.”
Soren had also attached a letter to his post in which he had written about the same to the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
The CM stated that few finishing works in the infrastructural building and installment of some furniture and equipment weren’t completed because of the lockdown.

The letter stated that the infrastructural deficiencies that were pointed out in the online assessment of NMC have already been rectified and the rest will be corrected by December 15, if any.
The CM said that after the inauguration of the three medical colleges, the admission of 100 students in each college was permitted for the academic year 2019-20.
The admission procedure for students into these colleges was started after the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test - NEET examination results were declared but NMC ordered that due to infrastructural deficiencies, there will be no fresh admission in these three medical colleges.
Soren stated that the major problem being faced is the lack of eligible candidates for the posts of professors and assistant-professors as the eligible ones are hesitating to work in such backward areas.
He lastly added that the state government is amending the recruitment policy to resolve the issue as early as possible.
