Karnataka State Open University to Establish Data Centre Soon; Details Here


Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysore Vice-Chancellor Professor S. Vidyashankar announced that the State Open University will set up an in-house Data Centre for storing all documents collected from the candidates under one roof.

During an interaction with the press, Karnataka State Open University Vice-Chancellor stated that for admission to various distance education courses in degree, diploma certificate, undergraduate, and post-graduate programs, the required document will be submitted at the Data Center.

He further stated that the responsibility to safeguard the documents of the candidates will be the university's responsibility. Considering the safety of documents, the KSOU has decided to construct an in-house Data Centre within the premises of Mukthagangothri. 

Tenders have been called for the same purpose from eligible companies. The budget estimated for the development of the proposed Data Centre was INR 3.5 Crore, he added.

Professor Vidyashankar had previously stated that the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) had given contracts to private companies for the storage of documents of candidates, however, misuse of the same was reported.

It was significant to protect the prestige of the University, along with the construction of a Data Centre which was planned for safeguarding the documents. Data Centre would be very much helpful for the conduction of audio-video virtual experiments, and online activities, he added. 

Vice-chancellor said that these plans of action would protect the prestige of KSOU. Additionally, conduction of exams, evaluation of answer scripts, announcement of results, and marks-sheets distribution would be organized in a transparent manner without any mistake. 

Documents collected from different regional centers would also be stored in the Data Center. In case of doubt regarding the academic activity, result, or marks card, the doubts could be clarified via the digitalized documents stored in the Data Centre.
