New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the list of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that are prepared to be offered by IIM Bangalore and IGNOU for the January 2023 Semester. The MOOCs are available through the SWAYAM portal on the official website @swayam.gov.in.
The National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), University Grants Commission (UGC), and Indira Gandhi Open National University (IGNOU) are some of the institutes that offer and prepare the list of various MOOCs.
As a component of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan in India, the MOOCs contain a course on community engagement and social responsibility as well as courses on Buddhist Philosophy, Abhidhamma (Pali), and Buddhist History in order to revive India as a major destination for Buddhist culture and tourism.

The SWAYAM board also reported that credit transfers for SWAYAM courses had helped approximately 2 lakh students over the past two years.
The board has requested that higher education institutions adopt their statutory bodies in accordance with UGC regulations and authorise the MOOCs described above in order to provide a credit framework for online learning courses through study webs of active learning for young aspirants.
According to the UGC notice, the students and learners are invited to enrol in these courses in large numbers and take advantage of the credit transfer from their concerned HEls.
