Lucknow University Issues Rules for Promoting Students of Second, Fourth Semesters


Lucknow University has released the assessment technique for promoting students in their intermediate years and semesters in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

For undergraduate students in their second semester at Lucknow University, the marks scored in the first semester will be used to arrive at the projected marks for the second semester. Similarly, projected marks will be calculated for internal assessment and practical examinations.

For undergraduate students in their fourth semester, an average of their scores in the first, second and third semester will be used to calculate the projected marks for the fourth semester. The same rule will apply to honours courses.

For students who are pursuing their Master’s degree, the projected marks for the second semester will be calculated on the basis of the aggregate marks scored in the first semester. Internal and practical marks will also be calculated in the same manner.

If a student failed or did not take an examination in the previous semester, they will be promoted but will have to take an improvement examination later.

The students who have passed their first, third and fourth semester examinations but could not pass their second-semester examination will be promoted on the basis of the rules for calculating the results of the second semester since examinations for that semester could not be given this year. A similar rule will apply for students pursuing postgraduate courses.

Students who have cleared their final year examination but have backlogs will be promoted on the basis of the previous year or semester.
