May 18, 2021: Maharashtra Government has given a green signal to final year undergraduate students, who were affected by the cyclone, and couldn’t appear for the exam, to now appear for the final examination again.
As per the Maharashtra Government announcement, the opportunity has been given to those students who were affected by the recent cyclone. The respected colleges will also soon release the examination schedule for the remaining subjects on their official website.
Minister of Higher and Technical Education Maharashtra, Uday Samant recently tweeted, “Students who missed the final year of graduation due to the cyclone disaster should not worry".
"Concerned students should contact your college. The concerned college will announce the schedule of the remaining examinations of the students" the tweet further reads.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, examinations for various undergraduate students in the Maharashtra universities were conducted through online means.
Additionally, many universities in Mumbai, Pune, Nagar, and Gondwana have already conducted their end-term examinations for students online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, in March 2020, the University of Mumbai (MU) released a notice stating that all university exams will be conducted through online means, in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) mode.
Referring to the notice release by the university, an MU official said, “Not just theory exams, but affiliated colleges have also ensured that practical exams are conducted online. So, we have nothing to worry about''
Minister of Higher and Technical Education Maharashtra stated that to break the chain of coronavirus pandemic in the states, there is a need to impose strict restrictions.
Keeping in mind the increasing cases of COVID-19 in states, the university has decided to hold the examination for the first to the third year, undergraduate program students’ examination through online means, he further added.
The Minister of Higher and Technical Education Maharashtra is also keeping students of age group between 18 to 25 years inoculate since there are about 37 lakh students who can receive their vaccination in their respective universities.
