New Delhi: Maharashtra HSC exam 2022 students will get 1 mark for an error in the English question paper held on Friday, March 4, 2022. The decision was made at a review meeting on Saturday, March 5, by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE).

The State Board conducted a review meeting while exams are ongoing for Class 12 students. Maharashtra HSC 2022 will continue till April 30, 2022. The meeting was held after teachers pointed out that question number A5 (i) was printed without sufficient instructions.

“In the meeting, the joint committee (board of studies and the chief moderator) found that question number A5(i) did not contain the necessary guidelines, which should have been printed, along with the question. Hence, the committee had recommended that the students, who attempted the question, must be given full marks i.e. 1 mark”, as stated by Sharad Gosavi, the Chairman of the State Board.
Fortunately, the committee did not find any other structural problems in that question paper. Another issue, however, was raised by the English teachers regarding the paper which is quoted below:
“The language study question asked the students to simplify two sentences. Both the sentences were already simple enough. They need not have been simplified further. Then there were two questions, question number 2 had a sub-question on mind mapping, which had the same topic, as in a sub-question for question number 4, which was on the expansion of ideas. Question number 5 was very tough. These questions were based on the three novels of which only the synopsis is generally learnt by the students”, as stated by an official.
Approximately 14 lakh students across Maharashtra wrote the first paper of the HSC examination, i.e. English. After almost a gap of 2 years, the exams are being conducted in offline mode.
