Manish Sisodia Meets UK Skills Minister to Explore New Partnership Opportunities

New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met with UK's Minister for Skills Alex Burghart to discuss various opportunities to boost Delhi's higher education system and foster innovation and growth. The meeting was held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in London. 

During the meeting, Manish Sisodia discusses the manual corporation and areas of collaboration for UK and Delhi Universities. The partnerships will aim to promote innovation and bring job opportunities to students of Delhi in various fields. 

The high-level meeting between the two leaders took place during the visit of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to the UK. The Deputy Chief Minister also visited the University of East London (UEL) and University College London (UCL) after the meeting.

Talking about the future partnership opportunities between the UK and the Top Universities in Delhi, the Chief Minister said, "The future partnerships with UK higher education institutions will help us promote innovation and create 21st-century jobs in Delhi".

"An insightful meeting with the Minister for Skills and faculties from universities gave us an opportunity to understand their work and curricula being implemented here. Got some really innovative ideas which can be implemented in our state universities" he further added. 

Informing about the meeting, the Minister stated that Delhi Government has discussed a collaboration opportunity between Delhi Sports University and UEL. The collaboration will be done to design a sports university curriculum and capacity building for the upcoming session. 

Earlier, the Delhi University and UCL, the top university for sports education in London have also joined hands in areas of mutual interests. The partnerships were done to explore curriculum design, offer exchange programs, and creative assessments.

Talking about the achievements of UCL, the Deputy Chief Minister said, "The university has a dedicated School of Health, Sport and Bioscience, which provides hands-on, experience-led teaching across multiple disciplines in sports".

"We are looking forward to collaborating with UEL to work on capacity building, innovative curriculum design, and research for Delhi Sports University" he further added. 

During the visit, the Chief Minister also visited the Reay Primary School in London which offers education to students of the 3-11 age group. Talking about his visit, he stated that the Reay Primary School is working dedicatedly on improving primary education in the UK.

“Delhi Government is also working consistently in improving the overall primary education system and would like to adopt the practices of Reay Primary School. With this, the government aims to create an educational environment for the benefit of Childers in Delhi" he added.
