Mumbai University’s School of Economics and Public Policy will soon be establishing a center for research and teaching in finance.
The Management Council of Mumbai University sent its approval to the varsity last week for the same purpose.
The former chairperson of UTI and alumnus, Dr. S.A. Dave has donated a total of INR 5 Crore that is the foundation money for the center.

The center at Mumbai University aims to link up with the research and training modules for the industry.
The head of the department at Mumbai University, Mala Lalwani said that diploma and certificate courses shall be offered in a short period in financial economics and related fields such as business analytics, quantitative finance, and data science, etc.
Mrs. Lalwani stated that Dr. Dave had expressed a desire that the center would evolve into one of the finest research and training centers in the finance program in India, highlighting the fact that Mumbai is the financial capital of our country.
She added that besides diploma and certificate courses they are eagerly anticipating industry-academia collaborations and workshops.

The Mumbai University's Center for Research and Training in Finance will work together with the industry to carry forward research in the financial sector.
To promote research and policy interventions, the autonomous department of economics was relaunched as MSEPP along the lines of the Delhi School of Economics in 2017.
The Mumbai University's school of Economics has collaborated with several initiatives of the state government to put into action and measure the effectiveness of government schemes.
The DSE (Delhi School of Economics) is one of India’s best academic institutions in commerce, social sciences, economics, and business.
DSE comes under the provisions of Delhi University and enrolls students via a tough entrance exam and for M.Phil and Ph.D. courses an additional interview is conducted.
