NEET PG 2020 Counselling: Qualifying Cutoff Slashed by 20 Percentile


On July 4, 2020, National Board of Examination (NBE) had officially released a notice stating of revised cutoffs for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG counselling 2020.

The NEET PG 2020 cutoffs are for admissions into Master of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD) and PG Diploma courses for 2020-2021 academic year.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on discussing with Medical Council of India (MCI) reduced the qualifying cutoff so that vacant seats are filled. As per the official notice, the cutoffs have been slashed by 20 percentile for each category.

Thus, for 2020, the cutoffs have been reduced by 20 percentile for MS/MD/PG courses. Last year, the cutoff was decreased by 44 percentile for the general category. Additionally, NBE also drastically reduced 34 percentile for SC/ST/OBC categories.

NEET PG Counselling 2020

As per the regulations, NEET PG aspirants need to have obtained at least the qualifying percentile to pose eligible for NEET PG Counselling 2020.

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conduct the counselling process on 50% of All India Quota (AIQ), ESIC and AFMS institutes and Central and Deemed Universities. Alongside, the remaining 50% seats are allotted for state quota. 

The concerned state counselling bodies are responsible for hosting the counselling process.
