NIT Andhra Pradesh B.Tech Curriculum 2021-22 (Revised) as per NEP 2020; Details Here


The National Institute of Technology (NIT),Andhra Pradesh B.Tech Curriculum 2021-22 has been revised with new features as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, for the current academic year 2021-22.

The Symposium I and II was hosted by the NIT Andhra Pradesh under the banner ‘National Conclave on Strategies for implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’, on October 29 and 30, 2021. 

According to the NIT Andhra Pradesh notification, the seminar was conducted by the institute to enable administrative staff, researchers, students, and faculty members to be aware of the developments attainable upon the implementation of NEP in the institute. 

Expressing his thoughts on revising the curriculum of undergraduate programmes for the current academic year 2021-22, Professor CSP Rao, Director of NIT Andhra Pradesh, said that the conclave will lead NIT AP to discuss NEP 2020 and relevant developments to be made in the institute to the stakeholders. 

Furthermore, he announced the new features of the new curriculum of B.Tech:

  • Modified according to the New Education Policy 2020
  • Various exit options (Certificate, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, & BTech)
  • Regular Degree with Honours degree 
  • Regular Degree along with Minor Degree 
  • Choice based credit system 
  • Online Education through Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
  • Outreach Activities through Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS)
  • Industry Supported / Relevance Courses
  • Interdisciplinary / Emerging Technologies learning through Electives
  • Major Final Year Project through Industrial Training / Internship
  • Skill Development through Mini Projects
  • Summer Internships at Institutes/ Organizations / Industries
  • Introduction to Foreign languages
  • Physical Education (Sports/ Games / Health)

Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, congratulated the institute and spoke about the NEP 2020 which serves to be the primary guideline for all educational institutions throughout India irrespective of the education level or the discipline pertaining to the courses. 

Further, the governor categorized NEP 2020 into four essential parts as: Higher education, School education, Addressing other key areas such as Arts, Law, Online and digital education along with strategy discussions required to implement the NEP 2020 to the fullest of its spirit.

He said that the second part of the visionary NEP 2020 deals with the higher education institutions/ universities such as NIT Andhra Pradesh. As a result, with the implementation of NEP 2020, the investment on Research & Innovation in India will be alleviated as it has been recorded as 0.69 % of GDP. 

Tamilsai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana, and Lt Governor of Puducherry addressed the audience and praised NIT Andhra Pradesh saying that despite the fact that the institute is the youngest among all NITs, it has taken an important steps of establishing a required infrastructure, and offering of lectures to students employing modern day technology. 

Also, the institute is gearing up towards reaching the academic heights as envisioned by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, she concluded.
