New Delhi: As per the latest circular released, National Medical Commission has permitted foreign medical graduates to complete their ongoing or incomplete internships in India.
The initiative has been approved by the National Medical Council to offer relief to foreign medical graduates who are unable to finish their training or program internships due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war restrictions.
Following the circular released on March 04, 2022, candidates who have a valid Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) score are now eligible to apply for completing their internships under the state medical council.

To apply for completing the pending internships, candidates are required to have a valid qualification and original proof of their degree, which includes a medical degree and proof of their successful completion of physical training equivalent to the MBBS Course.
Additionally, candidates should have a valid copy of their passport, VISA details, immigration details, and FMGE clearance details. Those who do not meet the criteria can not apply for the facility.
Those who meet the criteria will have the opportunity to complete their internship program of up to 12 months under various state medical colleges. Selected candidates will receive training from experienced experts and no fee will be charged for the internships.
Referring to the initiative, the NMC official circular reads, “Considering the agony and stress faced by these foreign medical students, their application to complete the remaining part of the internship in India is considered eligible”.
“Accordingly, the same may be processed by the state medical councils provided that the candidates must have cleared FMGE before applying for completion of internship in India,” the NMC circular further added.
