New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that the fees of 50% of the seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities will be at par and reduced to the fees in the government medical colleges in the respective states and union territories.
As per the NMC's announcement, the fees for the medical seats in private colleges will be in accordance with those in government medical colleges present in a particular State or Union Territory.
The commission's announcement comes as a relief for the students belonging to the economically backward sections as the fees of private medical institutions are always considered to be expensive.
As a result, the NMC's announcement will assist medical aspirants to get into medical colleges and pursue MBBS even after securing better scores in the eligibility tests.
The commission released a statement in this regard, stating that the benefits of the fee structure would not be made available to those candidates who have availed government quota seats but it is limited to the extent of 50% total sanctioned strength of the respective medical college or deemed university.
