New Delhi: National Medical Commission to implement a new competency-based medical education curriculum for undergraduate courses with the goal of covering cognitive, emotional, and psychomotor learning domains.
According to the announcement, the new CBME for undergraduate course curriculum was considered in detail at the NMC's 6th meeting on March 24, 2022, in New Delhi. It was unanimously resolved to introduce a new CBME for UG Course Curriculum from the 2021-22 batch of MBBS after extensive debate and deliberation in the meeting.
All state governments/UTs, universities, and medical colleges/institutes have been directed by the NMC to take the necessary steps to implement the new curriculum as soon as possible.
"All Registrars of the University and the Deans/Principals of the medical college are requested to complete the required formalities with regard to amalgamation of old and new batch of MBBS students in the CBME Course Curriculum on priority,” mentioned by notification released by NMC.
Main objectives of implementing New Curriculum
The new CBME course curriculum, according to the NMC, is being implemented with the goal of covering all three domains of learning: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.
The course curriculum, which was introduced in August 2019, provides medical students with a solid foundation and balanced approach to the overall aspect by introducing foundation courses such as yoga, meditation, family adoption programme, local language adaptation, and skills.
