Over 1600 Students Receive Degrees at IIT Guwahati's 24th Convocation; Details Here


New Delhi: IIT Guwahati has awarded B.Tech, M.Tech, MSc, MA, and PhD degrees to a total of 1620 students during its 24th convocation held on Friday, June 17, 2022.

As per IIT Guwahati, the degree was awarded to 697 BTech and BDes students, 470 MTech and MDes, 253 PhD students, 196 Master's degrees students, and three Dual Degrees (MS+PhD) students. Out of the total scholars, nine were persons with disabilities. 

Among the graduating students, Gaurang Ramakant Kane from B.Tech Engineering Physics has secured the top score in the BTech batch. While Akshita Jain from BTech Chemical Engineering Batch is awarded the Shankar Dayal Sharma Goal Medial during the convocation. 

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi attended the 24th convocation of IIT Guwahati as a Chief Guest. Rahul Mehta, Founder of Mehta Family Foundation, Huston, USA was also present at the event as a Guest of Honor.

Addressing the event, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi said, "In close to three decades, IIT Guwahati has become known for its environment of academic experience in the entire country with its quality technical education".

"The institute has produced globally competitive human resources and carried out research that has significantly benefited society. This shows the social commitment of the institute. The alumni of the institute include engineers, entrepreneurs, and technologists who have helped build a new India" he added. 

Adding to his statement, the Governor urged the institute to further contribute to the development of the students and collaborate with schools for underprivileged children. The institute should also take the initiative toward socio-economic development. 

“As we seek to meet important development goals and build an inclusive society, the power of innovation would help us in diverse areas like health, education, food, security, energy access, environmental protection, and national security,” he added.
