This leadership development program, which is jointly sponsored by United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN), a Boston-based international non-profit, gives UG students the chance to direct a social initiative project while honing their partnership-building and community impact skills.

The shortlisted students were chosen from record-breaking 30,000+ applicants from more than 2,400 institutions in 140 different countries. 200 universities from around the world have been chosen to host more than 3,000 Millennium Fellows in 2022.

Plaksha University's Founding Vice Chancellor, Dr Rudra Pratap, congratulated the chosen students from the institution and said, "I am very proud of the fact that in the very first year of our existence, our students have been picked for the UN Millennium Fellowship programme".

"Our goal at Plaksha is to mentor and guide students toward becoming leaders who are committed to using technology to meaningfully impact society and address some of its most critical problems. Through classes like Innovation Lab and Grand Challenges, students gain practical experience in problem-solving" he added.

Students have the chance to create a proof of concept for an SDG that is important to them as part of the UN Millennium Fellowship. The fellows will be able to take advantage of tools supplied by Millennium Campus Network team as well as mentoring from leaders and mentors from around the world, including Scott Warren.

In order to have an impact, Plaksha Fellows will be working on the Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Responsive Consumption and Production (SDG 12), and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16).

These goals include enhancing the mental health of college and pre-college students and developing a contemporary web platform for health and well-being reporting and discussion. After the project is finished, these ideas will be evaluated for possible future use.
