SPPU to Announce Revised Result by Dec 3, after thousands of complaints received by students

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) administration has declared those students, expecting error corrections on their exam mark sheets, the inquiry into all complaints will be completed by December 3, 2020.

SPPU will send students with the corrected mark sheets. The decision was taken after cases of at least 8,000 students were being verified since they appeared for the exams but were marked absent or provided zero marks.

Complaints were received from thousands of students of being marked absent or graded zero for the exams they had taken.

According to media reports, an analysis of 18,000 mark sheets at SPPU had revealed that 10,000-odd students had not checked in the system or appeared for their exams. However, the cases of around 8,000 students were verified since they have taken the exams but were marked absent or provided zero marks.

On Wednesday evening, SSPU administration released a notification stating that they have evaluated the cases and found common issues like students using two emails to log in, creating confusion, and taking exams of subjects not selected in the exam forms. The results of all students who are eligible for revaluation will be declared by December 3, 2020.

Mahesh Kakade, director of examinations and evaluations at SPPU, stated that the university has neither yet taken any decisions on re-exam nor they are considering that option and just because the students have complained doesn’t mean that we are revising each and every marksheet.

He clarified, “For example, we found that more than 200 engineering students chose one subject in their exam forms but took another subject’s exam, so their results are being considered. Some students used one ID while filling the exam form, but wrote exams with another ID–there are 534 such cases. It is an arduous task to match all the data, but we are doing it,” he added.

Moreover, in a few cases, technical glitches had led students not able to complete their papers within the time.

He also said, “In many cases, we found that students had not selected some subjects in exam forms, but gave exams of those subjects at their own will. It is difficult to consider all these cases. However, by December 3, cases that are genuine and eligible will get revised mark sheets.”
