Nearly 4,000 students of the institute have bagged their super dream job offers of ₹10 LPA, dream offers of ₹5 LPA and 5,200 ‘unique’ offers so far.

Some of the top recruiters who offered whooping packages to the SRMIST students were Amazon, PayPal, Google, L&T Construction, Honda, IBM Air Asia, Walmart, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Alstom and Hitachi amongst the 1,097 companies, the institute said.

Speaking about the SRM placements, T.R. Paarivendhar, Chancellor, SRMIST, said that the institute has been witnessing huge increase in the placement opportunities every year.

Earlier, in 2019-20, almost 7,000 students got placement, followed by 8,000 students getting placed in 2020-21. However, this year, the placements crossed 10,000.

Last year, two students who were twins bagged the highest offer of ₹50 lakh per annum, which has now been surpassed by Puranjay Mohan by getting placed at Amazon, Germany with a whooping annual package of ₹1 crore, he said.

The Chancellor termed Mohan as an ideal role model for other students of the institute. Expressing his curiosity, he said that Mohan is not a Computer Science graduate but an electronics graduate, who had managed to get placed at Amazon, Germany, for the role of software development (embedded systems-Linux kernel developer).

Attributing his success to the training provided by the institute and guidance by alumni, Puranjay Mohan, a student of electronics and instrumentation engineering, said that the technical expertise, soft skills and communication skills were extremely essential for a successful career in engineering.

Mohan said that the course curriculum followed at SRM was on a par with what the industry expects, which boosted him to grab that offer. It is the most important factor because when a student finishes college and joins a company, there is a gap of skill.

He said, however, in his case, the gap was minimal because he had already been exposed to the latest technology and trends in the industry by the institute.

In other news, Muthamizh Selvan, Vice-Chancellor, said the institute is all set to introduce B. Tech Agro Electronics.

Meanwhile, candidates interested in taking admissions into the M.Tech and B.Tech courses offered by the institute can apply through the official portal, @srmist.edu.in, by June 20, 2022.
