Institutes under ASI were inaugurated by the Prime Minister in 2019.

Tamil Nadu chief minister pointed out, “The Tamil language was the first language to be declared as the classical language in 2004 and yet it is completely ignored in the admission criteria”.

He further added, “Such exclusion works as a barrier for the students from Tamil Nadu and restricts their growth.

A total of 48,000 inscriptions are present in all the languages that have been recognized by ASI and out of which more than 28,000 inscriptions are present in Tamil alone.

K Palaniswami has requested the prime minister to get the guidelines and advertisement amended by ASI by including Tamil language as one of the minimum qualifications for doing PG Diploma in Archaeology.
