TEJAS Project Launched by Union Minister Anurag Thakur to Upskill Indians for Jobs in UAE

New Delhi: Training for Emirates Jobs And Skills (TEJAS) project was launched by the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday, March 27, 2022. The project aims at upskilling Indians and making them employment ready for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) job market. 

Anurag Thakur reached Dubai on Sunday, March 27. It was a three day visit to participate in Dubai Expo, where the Media and Entertainment Week was being observed. During his second day of visit, Thakur addressed the audience and discussed how the young people of India are the stakeholders in nation building as well as building of an image. 

Our focus is to skill this population and provide the world with a large skilled workforce from India,” as stated by Thakur. 

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a stronger partnership between India and UAE, Thakur explained that TEJAS attempts at creating a 10,000 strong Indian workforce in UAE during its initial stage.

As per the official statement by the Ministry, the primary goal of the project is to upskill, certify and overseas employment opportunities of Indians in UAE. The plan is also to sharpen their skills and make them more employment ready for the global job market. 

In addition to the job opportunities, Thakur also conducted a series of discussions with several industry leaders from the film and entertainment areas in India and UAE. 

It started with a meeting with the CEO of Media and Entertainment, E-Vision, Olivier Bramley. The other CEOs present during the meeting included Neeraj Roy, Founder of Hungama Digital Media, Harit Nagpal, MD and CEO of Tata Play.

While discussing the current scenario, Thakur also referred to PM Narendra Modi’s “Mann ki Baat” show and how it acted as a great medium, urging people to get vaccinated. The large viewership of TV, radio, OTT, etc. were also mentioned. 

Thakur also met eminent Indian filmmakers such as Priyadarshan, Kabir Khan during such discussions. Hans Fraikin, the Film Commissioner of the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, also attended the meeting. 

During his visit to Dubai, Anurag Thakur also visited the Indian Pavilion at Dubai Expo. There he also participated in a discussion with Reem Al Hashimi, the Minister of State for International Cooperation in the Government of UAE.
