TNOU Sets Up 91 Exam and Support Centers for Public College Students; Check Details Here

Tamil Nadu Open University has taken an educational initiative by opening 91 exam and learner support centers across the state. These centers will be opened in 91 public science and art colleges across the state.

The inauguration for this program was conducted by the Minister for Higher Education Thiru KP Anbalagan. Other than him, many other prominent names were also there for the inauguration of the initiative by TNOU.

These include Selvi Apporva- an IAS and Principal Secretary to the Government, Higher Education Department, Dr. K Rathnakumar-Registrar, TNOU, Thiru K Vivekanandan- IAS and Directorate of Collegiate Education and Professor K Parthasarathy- Vice-Chancellor of TNOU.

Several other officials of other affiliated colleges and institutes were also in attendance. During the inauguration, Selvi Apporva said that the University has been tirelessly working to equate students and make them better equipped to meet the challenges of society.

TNOU which is an open University offers more than 42 UG and 38 PG programs. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is one of the major open Universities of India along with IGNOU and the likes.

Principal Secretary, Selvi Apporva further said that through the learners’ support centers, the colleges will be able to provide its students with the necessary skill development programs. Under this initiative, the colleges that benefit from it will be able to provide 24 certificate courses, 16 short term courses, 4 diplomas, and many other certifications.

TNOU also issued a statement that initiated that high-level self-learning material (SLMs) will be given to the students. Higher Education Minister Thiru KP Anbazhagan started the enrollment of learners. He did so via a virtual platform and also gave ID and SLMs to some of the students of TNOU.

The minister also highlighted that the applicants who were unable to get the course they wanted would be able to benefit from this initiative. Now, the students would be able to enroll themselves in the course of their choice and also earn real skills for jobs.

The students who enroll in the programmes launched by the University would be awarded Convocation Certificates by the University after they finish their course.
