The Research Eligibility Test (RET) for Ph.D. programme in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science will be held in offline mode. 

University of Calcutta PhD Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates intending to enroll for admission to the PhD programme will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria. 

  • Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science or a degree declared equivalent to this Master's degree by corresponding statutory regulating body of this University, with at least 55% marks in aggregates or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7 point scale or on equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and Accreditation Agency. 
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC /Differently-abled candidates. 
  • Those who have qualified in NET/SLET or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship would be exempted from the Ph.D. entrance test. 
  • They may directly submit a statement of purpose or research in brief and appear in the interview.

University of Calcutta PhD Admission 2023: Selection Process

  • Candidate's selection to the PhD programme will be made on the basis of a Written Test followed by an Interview. 
  • Those who will qualify in the Written Test will have to appear for an Interview. 
  • Candidates with NET/SET/M.Phil. are not required to appear for the Written Test and are eligible to apply for appearing in the Interview directly. 

University of Calcutta PhD Admission 2023: How to Apply?

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of University of Calcutta @www.caluniv.ac.in

Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.

Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee and submit the Application form. 

Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.

University of Calcutta PhD Admission 2023: Written Test 

The research entrance test (RET) will be conducted for a duration of one and a half hours for 75 marks and the question pattern will be of objective and short answer type. (The qualifying marks for Entrance test will be 50%)

The RET qualified candidates and candidates having NET/SLET or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship will be eligible to register for their Ph.D. in Department of Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science after successful qualification of viva voce examination (Viva voce marks - 25).
