To meet the state's healthcare needs, the medical education department is essential in the development of medical and paramedical staff. Creating and maintaining well-equipped teaching institutions, which serve as the top referral hubs for outlying hospitals, is another responsibility of the department. The department of medical education also engages in research. The directorate works with a number of medical, dental, and paramedical institutes in Uttar Pradesh to facilitate comprehensive medical and dental education. On the other hand, it also offers patients access to traditional medical services.
In 1981, the department of medical health services and the department of medical education were split apart. In 1994, a distinct directorate of medical education was created. For the past 16 years, it has operated as a separate directorate. It oversaw the affiliated teaching hospitals and medical colleges.
The Medical Dialogues team recently revealed that DGME had made the PC and PNDT counselling schedule announcements for rounds 1 and 2. The counselling schedule started on December 21, 2022, and will terminate on December 31, 2022.
