As a non-Maharashtra candidate, you are eligible to take all the entrance exams that the institute accepts, including the Maharashtra CET. It is a common misconception that non-Maharashtra candidates are not eligible to take CET, but this is not the case. CET is one of the widely taken entrance exams and is considered to be more challenging compared to other exams such as CMAT, MAT, and ATMA.
In recent years, the institute has accepted CET, CMAT, MAT, and ATMA for admission. It is not yet clear what the admission process will be for the next academic year, but it is assumed that it will be similar to the previous years.
Taking multiple entrance exams, such as CET, CMAT, MAT, and ATMA increases your chances of getting admitted to the institute. To have a better chance of getting admitted, you should aim for a percentile of 99.99 or 99.98. Keep in mind that the competition is tough, especially for the limited number of seats available for non-Maharashtra candidates, which is currently 18.
This is my personal opinion and is based upon the feedback.
I have considered placement and fees and hence the ranking. Hope this helps.
I have given the preference order of the above-mentioned B Schools. However please remember this is based on my personal opinions and not any official figures
1st: NMIMS is one of the best schools in Mumbai with fewer fees and great specialization in Finance. Its distinguishing feature is its small batch size which is extremely beneficial for excellent placements. The companies that visit offer the best roles to their students mainly because of their credibility and strong alumni network.
2nd: SPJIMR too is located in Mumbai and is the second-best School after JBMINS. Its students intake is very good due to the strict selection process. The placements are at par with JBIMS but the fees are a bit higher. It's ranked in the top 3 in Operation and IT specialization in India.
3rd: One of the oldest institutes for MBA, IIFT is a good choice owing to its strong brand name and small batch size.
4th: SIBM Pune is a blend of everything; a Good campus, good corporate competition, hostel life, good infrastructure, faculty, and placement. It gives you an amazing MBA experience l.
5th: NMIMS Mumbai is great for MBA and is at par with SIBM. But I have ranked it the last owing to its high fees and larger batch size that requires a lot of competition during placements.
So the ranking is
NMIMS>SPJIMR>IIFT>SIBM Pune>NMIMS Mumbai
JBIMS offers both full-time and part-time MSc Finance. Being an excellent brand, it attracts the best faculty and companies for placements.

JBIMS M.Sc Finance Admission (part-time)
The admission process for part-time MSc Finance is as follows
For the preparation of this course, ask for reference books and dummy sheets from your friends who have prepared for a Full time MBA. The questions asked in the GD round are usually based on your work experience.
As a Management Graduate, you will have the option to become a Management Consultant. The top companies such as McKinsey, Boston Consulting, E&Y, Deloitte, etc. hire management graduates from top B-Schools. Additionally, you have the opportunity to venture into different fields of Management such as Marketing, Production, Operations, Human Resources, Technology, etc. The choice depends on your interest and specialization.
If you have work experience, you can aim for a mid-level managerial or supervisory position. If you do not have any experience, you can start with a junior position. The job placement will depend on various factors, including your academics, relevant work experience, quality of past job profiles, aptitude, and character.
It is recommended that you choose a field that interests and challenges you and also has good future prospects, and most importantly, one that you love doing.
Anyone but you can decide what’s best for you. Only you can make an informed decision based on your expectations and ability to take risks. However, I will recommend you opt MSc in Finance if you are sure about your career in the Finance sector and are ready for Finance roles. In case you are not very sure, try contacting some seniors from the institute or doing some research on LinkedIn. If even after researching your gut is not very sure about Finance then opt for a core MBA only.
By taking MBA, you can test your inclinations throughout the first year and find out if Finance is really your cup of tea rather than joining an MSc and regretting it later. A slight comparison between the 2 courses is given below
Brand: Brand-wise MBA/PGDM of Sydenham is a much older and bigger name in comparison to the MSc Finance of JBIMS.
Scope: The MSc in Finance at JBIMS has a much greater scope than MBA from Sydenham.
At JBIMS, both MMS and MSc Finance offer similar opportunities. Although many students exclusively target MSc. In finance, there tends to be an obvious preference for MMS. So in the near future either MSc Finance could be a separate course from MMS or even be discontinued. Not much can be said about this. So the only factor you should consider while deciding is your own inclinations.
Here's a closer look at each of these institutions:
Among the four B-schools mentioned, JBIMS has the strongest placement record, followed by XIMB, then MICA, and finally SIMSREE.
Pursuing an MBA from a top college like an IIM can provide many benefits, such as excellent campus life, an increased likelihood of getting a desired job, and boosting the overall value of your career. It’s viable to obtain a loan to pay for it because the interest rates are often low, and there is a grace period before repayment begins.
IIMs should be given more priority than colleges like FMS, TISS, JBIMS, or XLRI as they have more brand value and can offer better opportunities in terms of networking and job prospects. However, it is a personal decision that should consider your career goals, financial situation, and personal preferences.
Getting into JBIMS itself is a significant achievement and can elevate a student's status from being an average student to a top performer. Hard work, dedication, and inquisitiveness are important for achieving one's goals. Academic performance is not the sole determining factor for success in JBIMS, and the institute provides ample opportunities for students to learn and grow. A student's attitude after joining JBIMS plays a crucial role in determining their success and there have been instances where students with lower academics have landed higher packages than brighter students.
In order to be eligible for JBIMS, you must have one blood relative who is an NRI. You will have to appear for the MH-CET exam. JBIMS does not have a GDPI round as the admission process is conducted through a Centralized Admission Process (CAP) round. JBIMS is considered one of the top-ranked business schools in India and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
The average placement at JBIMS last year was 27.63 LPA, with the highest being 42 LPA. JBIMS is sometimes referred to as the "factory of CEOs." The team will guide you based on your profile to help secure a confirmed admission at JBIMS or other top business schools in India that fit your budget.
If you don't want to waste a year, it is recommended to approach the team immediately to start the admission process for JBIMS. If you would like more information about the admission process or references from students admitted to JBIMS through the team last year, feel free to ask at any time. However, it is important to note that there are limited seats available.
