You should choose XIMB. It has a strong market presence, excellent placement record, a well-developed alumni base, and brilliant faculties.
XIMB placements 2021 states an average CTC of INR 15.51 LPA. While the median CTC was INR INR 14.5 LPA. The placement packages offered are higher than IIM Sambalpur. XIMB has a large batch size, so competition is higher among students.
XIMB is counted among the top B-Schools in India. Compared to new IIMs like IIM Sambalpur, it is definitely a better option.
Since last few years, XIMB started receiving NMAT courses for admission to some of their flagship courses, i.e. HRM, RM, XSOS, UMG. There is no specific cutoff and the yearly numbers vary. But usually, the cutoff for these courses is in the range of 170-190.
You should note that XIMB doesn’t consider NMAT scores for courses like Business Management or Global Management.
FMS, XLRI, XIMB are among the top B-Schools in the country. NITR doesn’t belong in the same category as these institutions.
FMS placements are great. It offers the best ROI, in the country. The course fee for an MBA at FMS is only INR 1.92 Lakhs, while the average CTC offered by the institute is around INR 32.4 LPA. Most of the top Finance and consulting companies visit FMS for placements.
XLRI is one of the oldest and reputed B-School in the country. However, it is more known for its HRM program rather than MBA BM. XLRI placements 2022 had a median CTC of around INR 30 LPA.
XIMB offers a decent MBA BM program. The placement for this course are pretty good. According to the recent highlights of XIMB placements, students receive a median CTC of around INR 15 LPA.
There are several factors to take into account when deciding between Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), and Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Ghaziabad. All three institutes are considered to be reputable and comparable in many ways, but each has its own unique strengths and weaknesses.
One disadvantage of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies is its large batch strength. With a large number of students, it can be harder for students to receive individualized attention and support from faculty members. Additionally, the institute does not have hostels, which can be a significant additional cost for students. As a result, the MBA program at Narsee Monjee may cost around 4-5 lacs extra due to the need to stay outside.
On the other hand, if your career aspirations lie in the marketing field, IMT Ghaziabad is considered to be the best college. IMT Ghaziabad is known for its strong marketing program and its focus on providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects of marketing, such as consumer behavior, market research, and branding. Additionally, the institute's focus on providing students with practical training through internships, industry projects, and case studies, helps students to develop the skills and knowledge needed to excel in a career in marketing.
XIMB is considered to be good in almost everything. It has a balanced curriculum that covers all the important aspects of management. The faculty is experienced, and the institute is known for its research-oriented approach. Additionally, XIMB has a strong focus on sustainability and responsible management which makes it unique among other MBA colleges.
When considering a post-graduation program, it's important to research the different options available and weigh the pros and cons of each institute. Researching the institute's curriculum, faculty, and alumni network, as well as speaking to current students and alumni can help you to make an informed decision. Additionally, it would be a good idea to seek the opinion of professionals in the field you are interested in, as they can provide valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges of different career paths.
While choosing between MICA, IRMA, and XIMB, it's important to keep in mind that these institutions are very different from each other. They have different missions, visions, and outcomes. While XIMB is a general management institute, MICA and IRMA are focused on their respective domains.
If you're someone who is primarily driven by CTC and ROI, then it's important to think twice before opting for these niche programs based on general parameters. You might end up in something that you might not enjoy.
IRMA is the pioneer of rural management, with the aim of bringing about a change in the rural sector of the country through professional management. As a participant in the program, you'll learn all the principles of general management, along with social and liberal arts subjects. One of the unique features of IRMA is their three internship segments, which provide a different perspective on rural realities and society through a different lens.
By choosing IRMA, you can expect to have a rewarding career afterwards. However, keep in mind that the program is geared towards those who have a genuine interest in rural management and development. It's important to do your research and self-reflection to see if this program is the right fit for you.
With such good scores, no one would suggest you join XIMB though it is a pretty good college and reputed too. You should give a shot to old IIMs.
To get into old IIMs, you must score at least 99+ in the CAT exam, but if you have a score of 95+ also, you will land up in one of the new IIMs. Apart from the IIMs, there are other B-schools as well which are pretty demanding and rank high in MHRD ranking such as SP Jain Institute of Management, MDI Gurugram, etc. These institutes are also in the same league as old IIMs.
In a nutshell, you should continue with your job and give the CAT exam to score the 99+ percentile. You will be able to get a better college than XIMB. If you are capable of getting something better, why settle for anything normal. Just re-think upon it and have faith in yourself.
One of my seniors used to be a student of SCMHRD and he gave an analytical comparison between the two institutions.
Name of the institute |
Fees |
Average Placements |
Size of the batch |
SCMHRD |
15,45,000 INR |
Marketing: 14.70 LPA HR: 15.3 LPA |
240 (180 core+ 40 IM + 20 BA) |
XIMB |
18,70,000 INR |
13-18 LPA |
Above 400 |
In terms of location, SCMHRD is one step ahead of XIMB because the former is closer to Mumbai, the financial capital of India.
In spite of both institutes having an equally strong alumni network but as HR is the strong point of SCMHRD, it edges out XIMB in this regard as well. Marketing is also very strong in SCMHRD.
So, my senior recommended SCMHRD. Consulting is the forte of XIMB. However, both colleges are unique in their own ways.
This will entirely depend on your interests, seriousness, and perspectives on entrepreneurship. If you are looking for entrepreneurship and in the future, plan to become an entrepreneur or see yourself as one, you should definitely attend it.
It is worth attending and the internship fair has more than 50 different companies that also offer internships to MBA students. In 2020, some of the prominent speakers were Chinmoy Panda, Vaibhav Agarwal, Jonathan Bill, Kanika Tekriwal.
Moreover, they also have a good Comedy Festival where that is a lot of stand-up comics that show their talent. You should attend it.
XIMB Cutoff (through CAT) for BM/HRM, stays around 90-92 percentile. And XIMB doesn’t accept IIFT scores for admission. Below is a list of CAT cutoffs for the last few years.
Academic Year | Cutoff by Percentile (General category) |
2022 | 92 |
2021 | 91 |
2020 | 91 |
A CAT score of around 91+ should get you shortlisted by XIMB.
Yes, you can easily get into XIMB HRM with your NMAT score. In Fact, there are many other B Schools that accept NMAT scores like
The colleges in order of their ratings are-
Honestly, only NMIMS Mumbai and Bangalore are worth investing in.
One can certainly apply for the exam again but they must bear in mind that the cost of the exam is costly and you will have to apply separately and fill out forms for the exam as well as colleges again.
NMIMS Mumbai lays great emphasis on your work experience So, even with an average performance in CDPI one can convert a call.
NMIMS Mumbai enjoys a locational advantage being located in the finance and business hub of the country. It is among the 15 top B schools in the country
