Which career is better from a financial perspective: a corporate lawyer or an IIM Indore IPM course?

CG
Chaitanya Goel Posted On : January 4th, 2023
Former MBA student at Indian Institute of Management Indore (2016–2018)

Honestly speaking, every career is good from a financial perspective provided that you are efficient in your job. You don’t get paid for your qualifications, degrees or certificates. They are just means to acquire the skills. People pay you for your skills and efficiency. They pay you for the quality of work you get delivered.

The reason why IIM or top Business or Law Schools students earn a higher salary than others is because their colleges teach them the skills along the way. They don’t just receive their degree after paying high fees. They earn the degree through struggles and efforts.

Other instances include people who lack higher education yet have strived to become entrepreneurs and stock investors. They are making a lot of money through it. They are being paid for their skills and knowledge for their degrees.

So decide your career solely on the basis of your interests and inclinations. Don’t just aim at a degree or a certificate.

What are the chances of getting into IIM Indore IPM if my OBC rank is 61?

NG
Nandini Gupta Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studies at Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (2025)

One of my friends opted for both Indore and Rohtak. He only got into the waiting list for Rohtak through the EWS Category Rank 80. It is actually a bit hard to get admission at IIM Indore.

According to a trend, which emerged from IIT and NIT, students are dropping out of their colleges to enroll in Indore because of its tremendous growth in the past few years. This has provided immense opportunities to students related to internships and work.

If you are an IIT/NIT aspirant and still confused whether you should choose Management from Indore or Engineering from IIT in sync with your interest in finance, entrepreneurship or consultation then you must go for Indore. It will also develop your business too.

During the 2nd merit list in 2020, students from NC/OBC category up to the merit rank of 47 got an admission offer. So, if we analyze from that, then you'd have a better chance after the result announcement of JEE Advanced.

IPM from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Expected 2024)

Yes, you can take an IPM course at IIM Rohtak. There are several reasons for this, including:

  • The course choices are delicately varied.
  • Several webinars featuring eminent people such as the minister of sports and youth development, the minister of petroleum and natural gas, the minister of state for external affairs, and others are held on a regular basis.
  • The quality of a college is determined by the quality of its students. You can see people from various backgrounds, from various locations, doing various things in life. Some freelance, others are almost professional stock traders, and so on. These people encourage you to explore yourself and your potential.
  • Rohtak is in the National Capital Region. As a result, expect a lot of companies to come into contact on campus for recruitment.
  • For the 2022 placement, the highest and average salary packages are INR 30 LPA and 15.92, respectively.

IIM Rohtak and Indore IPM students have formed a community to help aspirants get into the IIMs of their dreams. They have a YouTube channel and a Telegram channel where they share free academic content, daily quizzes, news updates, vocabulary boosts, and more.

Is it better to go for the IPM program offered by IIM Indore or do a bachelor's degree and go abroad?

SG
Samarth Gaur Posted On : January 12th, 2023
Student at Indian Institute of Management Indore (2019–present)

First of all, it depends on the college you enroll in (for undergraduate study in India) and the subjects you are interested in. Choose IPM if the undergrad institution you are considering is not on par with it. If not, you might still think about that as a possibility.

Additionally, it depends on individual preference, financial situation, family, etc. Moving abroad is a major decision, and not everyone is emotionally or mentally prepared for it. Therefore, it is a very individual choice.

Most importantly, after completing the first three years at IPM, you are free to transfer to another college abroad. People have done this in the past and been accepted to institutions like HEC, and Paris. If you take this route, you will have the security of completing an MBA at IIM-Indore in case you are not accepted to your dream college abroad; however, if you are, you may leave IPM. It benefits both parties.

Additionally, three years is a long time, and if you decide to travel abroad, your preferences may change. In that case, IPM is still a better choice. As a result, we strongly advise choosing this option.

How is the IPM course offered by IIM Indore? After completion of 5 years, do we get a diploma or a degree from IIM?

JR
Javed Rahman Posted On : January 12th, 2023
Lives in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India

With the implementation of the IIM Act, students of the five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) would, like their PGP counterparts, begin receiving degrees rather than diplomas in 2018.

In contrast to their peers in colleges, IPM graduates could not enroll in higher education programs. It was for this reason that many students chose not to apply for the course.

Authorities at IIM Indore were troubled by the fact that IPM was a diploma program. Concerned, IIM Indore administrators permitted IPM course participants to pursue degree programs concurrently via distance learning. However, this action also did not put an end to the worries related to the IPM course.

MA
Mayank Aggarwal Posted On : March 28th, 2023
IIM MBA in Finance

Yes, there are people who scored below 90% aiming to get into IIM Indore. Here are some things to keep in mind if you're in this situation:

  • To get into IIM Indore, you need to qualify for the entrance test with high scores since the paper deals with sectional cut-offs.
  • After qualifying, you need to excel in the interview, where you will compete with people who scored over 90% - 95%.
  • Being exceptional in your subject matter knowledge is key to performing well in the interview.

It's difficult but not impossible to get into IIM Indore with scores below 90%. Attitude and aptitude both matter.

Is economics honors a better option or IPM offered at IIM Indore?

SJ
Shrey Jain Posted On : January 5th, 2023
Studied at Integrated Program in Management, IIM Indore (Graduated 2021)

Firstly Economics Honours required an in-depth study of Economics whereas the IPM program focuses on the many areas of Management. There is a drastic difference between the nature of both courses. No doubt Economics knowledge is beneficial for the IPM program but is not necessarily important. In IPM, Economics is just a 4 credit course in a term of about 30 credits.

IPM hugely emphasizes Quants over Economics. So if you are more interested in Economics, then IPM is not for you. Your choice should be a good college from DU North Campus. If you manage to get into one then pursuing Economic Honors is a much-preferred option over IPM. Don’t choose a below-average college for Economic Honors. In that case, go for IPM only.

MITSOM Pune:

  • Students must graduate 10+2 with at least 40% marks to be eligible to apply to the college.
  • Final admission is dependent upon MITSOM College Entrance Test.

IMED Pune:

  • Further, admissions are offered on the basis of the combined BBA merit list displayed i.e. based on the marks obtained in the BMAT entrance test.

Fees: The following table provides information on the fees required for the first year at MITSOM and IMED respectively.

Campus wise, some of the facilities available at IMED include libraries, computer labs, hostels, and gyms among others. Those available at MITSOM’s 25-acre campus include computer labs, cafeterias, student relaxation rooms, study areas within libraries, and more. How can I prepare for IIM Indore or IIM Rohtak IPM exams? I am currently in class 11 with commerce stream and ISC board (and not showing off I got 93 avg. in English class 10 ICSE board)?

PC

It is great that you are thinking of pursuing IPM being in class 11. You have enough time. You can think of starting with Pearson’s IPM entrance guide. Figure out if you can solve the questions or not. If required, join online coaching classes like CareerAnna.

  • Develop the habit of reading. Start with novels that you might like in your preferred genre and move on to articles from the Indian Express or The Hindu.
  • Expand your knowledge and vocabulary.
  • Attempt one mock at least per month and one every week after your 12th grade. Analyze your mistakes and work on them.
  • Practice writing essays for WAT. You might be asked to write on random topics so ensure that you can write creatively within 20 minutes.
  • You can look at the previous topics asked in the examination which might help you.
  • In the interview round, prepare for current affairs and things you did in your 12th grade. GK and current affairs are essential for your preparation.
  • You can revise your academics, general HR questions and talk about your hobbies a week or two before your interview.
  • Ensure that your hobby stands out. Be thorough about it.
  • You need to set yourself apart from others for the college to see what is the unique thing that you can bring to the table.

Finally, be consistent in your work and start building your resume right away. Back your hobby with certificates, participate in competitions, and any other significant achievements you may have made along the way. Volunteer at a local NGO since social work is highly appreciated on your CV.
