Which college is better among NMIMS Mumbai and IIFT Kolkata?
My friend is studying with NMIMS and it's good and easy to get into as well. There are 3 attempts available for NMAT whereas IIFT is a step higher on the difficulty scale. The positive aspect of this is that the crowd at IIFT has intellectuals.
Apart from this, here are some more highlights-
- IIFT is well known as a trade research and consulting institution in India. Its personal brand is now part of the 'top b-schools in India' lists. It has also been ranked in the top 10s.
- Whereas NMIMS is a new school and is a step lower in branding but it's trying its best to catch up.
- The batch size of IIFT is half that of NMIMS. So IIFT becomes for those with decent academic scores, a place of success where they get to be top profiles. In NMIMS it becomes a struggle.
- Students in the Kolkata campus are able to apply to companies visiting IIFT Delhi as well.
- As for the location, Mumbai is a buzzing city and Kolkata is mellowed but dreamy. If you choose to go for NMIMS, then know that it doesn't have a hostel life. Students live on rent near the campus. IIFT Kolkata does have hostels.
- The mess at IIFT Kolkata is pretty decent and the hostel has single sharing accommodation which is rare for most B-schools. All in all, IIFT has a better hostel life than NMIMS.
Lastly, you'll have to pay more at both colleges but IIFT would be INR 3-4 lakhs cheaper than NMIMS and IIFT has a stupendous alumni network in the area of international trade. You may now decide based on your future goals.
How can I arrange the following according to an MBA/PGDM: NMIMS, Mumbai, SIBM, Pune, IIFT, Delhi, Great Lakes, Chennai, SPJIMR, Mumbai and JBIMS, Mumbai?
This is my personal opinion and is based upon the feedback.
- SPJIMR Mumbai
- JBIMS Mumbai
- IIFT Delhi
- SIBM Pune/ NMIMS Mumbai
- Great Lakes Chennai

I have given the preference order of the above-mentioned B Schools. However please remember this is based on my personal opinions and not any official figures
1st: NMIMS is one of the best schools in Mumbai with fewer fees and great specialization in Finance. Its distinguishing feature is its small batch size which is extremely beneficial for excellent placements. The companies that visit offer the best roles to their students mainly because of their credibility and strong alumni network.
2nd: SPJIMR too is located in Mumbai and is the second-best School after JBMINS. Its students intake is very good due to the strict selection process. The placements are at par with JBIMS but the fees are a bit higher. It's ranked in the top 3 in Operation and IT specialization in India.
3rd: One of the oldest institutes for MBA, IIFT is a good choice owing to its strong brand name and small batch size.
4th: SIBM Pune is a blend of everything; a Good campus, good corporate competition, hostel life, good infrastructure, faculty, and placement. It gives you an amazing MBA experience l.
5th: NMIMS Mumbai is great for MBA and is at par with SIBM. But I have ranked it the last owing to its high fees and larger batch size that requires a lot of competition during placements.
So the ranking is
NMIMS>SPJIMR>IIFT>SIBM Pune>NMIMS Mumbai
Which is better for Marketing & HR, SCMHRD, or NMIMS?
It depends on which NMIMS you’re talking about. If you’re talking about NMIMS Mumbai. Then I would choose NMIMS.
Location: Between NMIMS & SCMHRD, Mumbai is one the best location to do an MBA as a large and good pool of companies will come to the campus.
Brand name- NMIMS has a better reputation and brand value then compared to SCMHRD. NMIMS stands proud as a Deemed-to-be University offering multiple disciplines across multiple campuses. What started as an institute in a small building has caught the attention of the world, thanks to its 17 specialized schools
Placements - NMIMS Mumbai average package offered to MBA Core and MBA HR students stood at INR 23.07 LPA and INR 19.40 LPA, respectively.
Which one should I choose for economics: NMIMS or Ashoka University?
Both colleges offer the best education in economics. Education World Organization has ranked Ashoka University in the 2nd place in the year 2019-2020. While the NMIMS is ranked in the 7th position by Business Today. Also, NMIMS is one of the top 100 lists of B-schools.
However, one should not decide the best college based on rankings and branding. So, here are a few facts about the economics course at both colleges.

Admissions:

- The students who wish to join in economics have to complete their 10+2 with good grades.
- The fee for this course at the college is 1.27 lakhs in the first year.
Placements:
- The highest and average salary packages of the students are 21.38 LPA and 10.5 LPA respectively.
- Over 90 companies visit the campus each year and almost all the students get recruited with the best packages.
- Some of the top companies that visit the campus frequently are Nivea, OYO, Kantar, Bata, Honeywell, Dell, Oracle, Genpact, Infosys, Indegene, NIIT, Trent, IBM, Wipro, CCD, CenturyLink, Kotak, Firstsource, Indaimart, Kazo, Volvo, H&M, and many more.
Additional Information:
- The college has the best faculty holding specialization degrees in various fields such as Marketing, Human Resource, Finance, Economics, Communication, etc.
- Also, the library is a hub for several collections of books. The college has over 6300 books, e-books, e-journals, etc.
Ashoka University
Admissions:
- The college accepts students merely based on academic excellence.
- The students have to meet minimum eligibility of 10+2 with good grades.
- The fee for this course is 8.85 lakhs.
Placements:
- The average salaries of the students range from 7 to 10 lakhs per annum.
- Some of the top companies that visit the campus are Toshiba, American Express, Genpact, McKinsey & Co, Microsoft, Dell, Samsung, and other reputed companies.
Additional Information:
- The college has a good library facility with several collections of books, journals, and magazines.
- The faculty guide the students with the utmost care. Also, the faculty members hold the highest degree in their respective fields. So, students can access the maximum knowledge.
This is all about economics at both colleges. Choose the best college that suits you based on the various aspects and your interests.
Which one is better NMIMS Mumbai or GIM for a PGDM?
NMIMS Mumbai and GIM are both reputed business schools in India. NMIMS Mumbai is ranked 25th and GIM is ranked 36th in the NIRF 2022 Rankings in Management.
PGDM Batch of 2023 at GIM has achieved a 100% placement, with the highest CTC at 55 LPA and an average CTC at 14.9 LPA. GIM offers a 2-year full-time PGDM. Classes are held on campus.
GIM also has a distance learning program by the name of GOAL-GIM Online Active Learning, which offers PGDM courses in the hybrid learning mode.
For NMIMS 2022-2023 MBA (Core) placements, the highest CTC (International) was 67.80 LPA and the average CTC was 26.63 LPA.
For MBA (HR) placements, the highest CTC was 25.95 LPA and the average CTC was 19.56 LPA.
NMIMS Mumbai offers a Distance PGDM, the duration of which is again 2 years.
NMIMS Mumbai is a more popular choice as compared to GIM, however, it also differs from one individual to the other.
Which has a greater career impact, EGMP certification from IIM Bangalore or Executive MBA (WX) from NMIMS?
For EGMP certification from IIM Bangalore, you must have at least 5 years of experience, and the entire course fee is 6,76,000. The course is designed for working professionals who have not been exposed to many pivotal corporate shifts and want to broaden their managerial skills. The same would apply to an Executive MBA from NMIMS that requires a minimum of 3 years of work experience. Although there is a significant difference between the fees, it should not affect your choice if you’re planning on pursuing executive education. The brand image may not influence the chances of your success in the industry after working for more than 5 years. Still, it could definitely provide you with the right kind of assistance. So, in my opinion, you should go for IIM certification.
Should I join an MBA tech program in NMIMS Mumbai?
This program is not AICTE approved, which means you won't be able to give government exams. However, you can still get private jobs, but keep in mind that not many companies recognize this program, so there may be fewer job opportunities if you don't take up placement from the institute.
If you're planning to take admission in NMIMS, you should know that the admission fee is around Rs. 2,75,000. Paying around 25 lacs for a 5-year MBATech program may not be worth it. If you do decide to get a refund, you may face some problems. The person on the telephone might speak rudely, and the refund process can be time-consuming. Additionally, you need to send a cancellation form by post, which can also take some time.
There are cases where students have experienced some issues when they applied for a refund 20 days before the start of college, and they didn't receive a 100% refund. The college deducted 50000-55000 and provided reasons as to why the students weren't eligible for a full refund. Therefore, it's essential to do proper research, take suggestions from people, and read all the rules and regulations of UGC and AICTE before taking admission.
In summary, before taking admission to any institute, you should always do thorough research, take suggestions from others, and read all the rules and regulations. This will help you make an informed decision and avoid facing any problems later on.
How is NMIMS Mumbai for finance?
NMIMS MBA in Finance is widely renowned and is among the most coveted course. NMIMS Mumbai in itself is a brand well known for MBA with Finance being its specialization. After Finance it’s Marketing that has been doing well these days and HR is also growing at a steady pace. Yet, one has to admit that it’s Finance companies that offer the highest packages at NMIMS. NMIMS Mumbai comes right after JBIMS and SPJIMR.

For Core MBA, NMIMS is ranked around 20-25 and for Finance around 10-15. NMIMS Mumbai is a decent option in case you couldn’t make it into JBIMS, IIMC, FMS, XL, SPJIMR or MDI.
Is a typical NMIMS Mumbai interview a normal one or stressful? Also, what are the chances of converting the interview round?
Whether your interview is a stressful interview or a normal one depends on your profile. If you have substantial work experience, the interview would be driven by that. On the other hand, if you are a fresher with little to show on your CV, it can be a stressful interview with hygiene questions.
If you are preparing for an MBA CORE interview, you should be ready to answer questions related to your field of interest. The interviewer may ask about your opinion on various government policies and new technologies related to your field.
If you are preparing for an MBA HR interview, be prepared for a stressful interview. The interviewer may grill you on your decision to pursue an MBA in HR and whether you are sure about joining the HR field. There may not be any technical questions, and the entire interview may be driven by hygiene questions.
Talking to your batch mates can give you an idea of what to expect in an interview. It appears that most MBA CORE interviews are normal and "chilled out," while MBA HR interviews are more stressful, as the interviewers want to be sure that candidates are committed to the HR field.
