Should I join IIM Indore as a fresher?

NP
Nandini Parekh Posted On : August 24th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore (2020)

Speaking of what roles you will be appointed for, the preferences varies from company to company, even though it can be generalized by the sectors.

  • For a number of profiles in Sales and Marketing, a prior work experience can be a thorn in the path.
  • If we talk about General Management and Consulting, then they will welcome you if you have prior work experience.
  • In the Media sector even, there are roles for strategy and/or general management, roles where clients are served, roles in finance, etc. Lacking prior job experience is not necessarily a hindrance in getting employed.

Recruitment depends on their understanding of your capability in the roles they want you to perform. So, an employee with prior work experience would be well suited for sales posts across the country while someone who does not lack prior work experience will be a good fit for roles that involve handling clients; for example, a consulting profile or B2B sales.

A 5 years integrated BBA-MBA at IIM Indore is a diploma course, and you must complete a correspondence course from IGNOU, DU, or some other university in order to obtain a degree with your diploma.

It is not worth paying 15-16 lacks for a diploma. Instead, strive for a BBS from DU in colleges such as CBS or a BBA from Narsee Monjee.

The IPM program first started in IIM Indore. The program is creative and unique and is meant for young students who aspire to be managers and leaders.

  • Around one out of 150 students get admission to the IPM program. Course fees for Indian students who want to pursue IPM are INR 4,00,000 per annum and INR 6,00,000 per annum for international students.
  • There are no scholarships available for IPM students. But many banks offer education loans at a lower interest rate. IIM extended NBFA (Need-based financial assistance) to IPM students too. So, there is financial assistance available for economically weaker students.
  • The minimum required cutoff for the program depends on the category you belong to.

You will find more information on the IPM program on the official website of the institute.

How can I get a summer internship at IIM Indore under Prof. Siddhartha K. Rastogi?

RJ
Rekha Jain Posted On : August 31st, 2021
Studies IPM from Indian Institute of Management Indore (2022)

One of my friends was a student of Mr. Siddharth K. Rastogi. He mentored my cousin while he was working on some projects.

He has worked on topics related to Public Policy, Trade and WTO, Tourism, China, Sports Analytics, and Bird-watching. Mr. Rastogi needs students with excellent writing and editorial skills, specifically academic writing and with excellent statistical analysis.

You must also look up some other professors as well with probably a better record in research. The general perception is that such internships are meaningless and might be useful only if you are amongst the top 1%.

How was your social internship experience at IIM Indore while doing IPM?

SB
Sanchita Bhattacharya Posted On : May 8th, 2023

Social internships are an important part of the IPM program and must be done during the summer break between the second and third years. The goal of the internship is to give students hands-on experience with real social problems and let them use what they've learned in the classroom to make a good difference in the world.

Students picked up social job positions in places like CSR, NGOs, Social Enterprises, Academic Institutions, and Social Activists. The placement season was spread over a few weeks so that the organizations could give the participants a wide range of functional tasks.

How many questions out of 100 do I need to attempt in IPMAT to get a seat in IIM Indore?

HJ
Himanshi Jain Posted On : June 3rd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Indore (2019)

There are total 100 questions in IPMAT and candidates have to answer the questions in 120 minutes. There are 3 sections and the duration for each section is 40 minutes. For every correct question you get +4 and for every incorrect answer there is a deduction of 1 mark. The cutoff for last year was around 306 so in order to get the interview call you need to attempt around 82-85 questions with an accuracy of 80 %. The more you increase your accuracy the lesser the pressure of attempting more questions.

Is math compulsory for IPM IIM Indore?

HG
Himani Ghose Posted On : August 28th, 2021
Studied at Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (2019)

No, maths is not a compulsory subject to be a part of the IPM program. You are eligible to apply for the IPM program even if you are from a non-math background.

But the program includes multiple maths and statistics courses in the first 3 years that require a good hold of class 11th and 12th grades’ maths.

In the introductory two terms, Differential and Integral calculus is taught by maths faculty, so it should not be difficult. However, if you are not from a Maths background, then you may have a tough time coping with the multiple subjects. Maths and Statistics courses have a high weightage in the first two years and if not handled well, can pull down your overall grade.

But I know a lot of people from IIM Indore with a non-math background, doing well in academics. If you work hard you can have good academic records too, even if you don’t like Maths.
