Should I go for PDPU or Symbiosis?
Symbiosis will be better for non-technical courses, such as management, mass communication, economics, law, etc. For technical courses, PDPU will be better. It is especially reputed for its Petroleum department. The highlights of PDPU placements 2022 show an average CTC of INR 7 LPA.
However, few technological institutes of Symbiosis are better than PDPU. So, before choosing an institute, research it in detail.
How is SIU compared to XLRI?
Symbiosis International University or SIU is situated in Pune, Maharashtra, and Xavier Labour Relations Institute or XLRI is a private university located at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. For the year 2020, XLRI was ranked 9th by NIRF in the Management category. It is considered to be one of the oldest B - schools in India. It also has a campus situated in Delhi- NCR. SIU was ranked 43rd among Indian universities by NIRF 2020 and 22nd in the Management category.

SIU

Campus Life -
- XLRI has an Interdisciplinary Behavioral Lab, designed specifically for the study of human subjects. There are many extracurricular societies and Interest groups like Dracula, SIGMA - Oikos, AXIOM, Bodhi tree, CEASE, etc.
- SIU regularly organizes International Research conferences and Science congress and has a University Biodiversity cell.
Comparison between the 2 colleges should be done based on the above facts, your perception of the college branding, and the ROI which is on an average of 1.63:1 for SIU and 0.65:1 for XLRI.
What is the minimum percentile to score in CAT exam to get calls from any of the IIMs or other top colleges like SPJIMR, XLRI, Symbiosis?
If you are targeting to join IIM Ahmedabad, then you should aim for a score above 90%ile in CAT. Getting a call from IIM A means getting a call from any other IIM, and the institute has admitted OBC candidates with scores as low as the 80 percentile. So, you shouldn't have any trouble if you score above 90%ile.
For XLRI, you need to score 96%ile or above (at least 95%) in the XAT.
SPJIMR considers both CAT and XAT scores. If you score 90+ percentile in CAT and 95+ percentile in XAT, you should get a call from them as well.
In summary, if you manage to score over 90 percentile in CAT, then, as a female OBC candidate, you can almost be assured of getting into a top IIM. You don’t even need to consider institutes like XIMB or Symbiosis. However, you still need to perform well in GD/PI/WA to secure admission.
