BITS Pilani assistant professor salary is approximately around INR 97,000/month before taxes, including DA. The salary amount is decided based on the UGC scale. It also depends on the designation and experience of the faculty member. Other than salary, the faculty members of BITS Pilani get housing benefits.
Yes, BITS Pilani is very costly and a student from a middle-class family may not afford the hefty fees here. The semester fee at BITS Pilani for integrated courses and higher degree courses is Rs 2,31,500 for the first and second semesters. This roughly amounts to double the fees of IITs.
However, when you become a part of the BITS family, you will realize that every penny you spent was worth it. BITS does not charge fees for themselves, rather the high fees are reflected in the top-notch infrastructure, lab facilities, and huge campuses. Moreover, they are not funded by the government so they have no option but to charge high fees to maintain their standards.
So if you failed to make it to the top IITs, go for BITS Pilani, it will not disappoint you. Just consider the high fees as a long-term investment that will fetch you good returns.
BITS WILP is a two-year postgraduate level course, in which 15 specializations are offered by the university. It is a degree course that is completed mainly on weekends to enable students and professionals to gain a full-time degree course while continuing their professional pursuits.
Pros
Cons
In all, I think the cons overshadow the pros and don’t deem this course a very wise decision.
Old IITs like Delhi, Mumbai, Kharagpur, Madras, and Kanpur rank higher than BITS Pilani. If you are getting admission to any of these IITs, go for it.
IITs like Dhanbad, BHU, Guwahati, Roorkee, and BITS Pilani belong in the same category. So, go where you are getting your preferred branch.
BITS is much better than the new IITs like Jammu, Mandi, Patna, Jodhpur, Goa, Pallakad, and Indore.
BITS offers an excellent campus experience which helps in overall personality development. As a student of the institute, you will have the freedom to study and explore any interest you have.
As a student at BITS Pilani, I can tell that there are major aspects other than placements that make BITS Pilani better than BITS Mesra. I have listed them below.
There are many reasons why someone might choose BITS Pilani over IIT. Some potential factors could include:
Ultimately, the choice between BITS Pilani and IIT will depend on an individual's personal preferences and priorities.
The campus life combined with the quality of education offered at BITS Goa is incomparable to VIT Vellore. The Bachelor in Engineering CSE programs of BITS Goa and IIIT Hyderabad are becoming very popular these days. In fact, IIIT Hyderabad is even becoming better than IIT Mumbai just because of this program. As for BITS Goa, it will soon be at par with the Pilani campus in the near future in terms of brand and opportunities.
College life here is very dynamic with vibrant fests like Waves. The college has a well-disciplined campus life. Life at VIT Vellore is pretty dull and full of restrictions. The admissions are unbiased and only 3 major companies visit for bulk placements.
BITSAT requires more academic grounding than VITEEE. BITSAT follows a negative marking system that VIT does not. The level of difficulty of questions of BITSAT was higher as compared to VITEEE.
No matter how many pros VIT has, it cannot be compared to any BITS campus in terms of brand value and academics. So choose BITS Goa!
No, I don’t think BITS Pilani is overrated in any way. In fact, it deserves the hype it gets because of its standard of education and the opportunities it offers.
BITS is certainly comparable to IITs in terms of academics and faculty. It only seems a bit lacking in terms of research although it has been improving gradually.
BITS tag makes it easier to secure a Master’s in foreign universities. The average GRE score for a BITSian is around 330/340. Thus portrays the excellent English-speaking culture of BITS.
Being a part of the BITS family gives you access to its elaborate alumni network. Its alumni are working successfully across the globe and can be found everywhere be it the UK, US, Germany, France, or Singapore.
BITS Pilani Practice School is a compulsory graduation requirement for all students that comprises Practice School I and Practice School II. Practice School I is an internship of 2 months for students at the end of their 2nd year and Practice School II is an internship of an entire semester, around 5 -5.5 months either in the odd semester or the even semester in the final year.
We can safely conclude that BITS Pilani is nowhere overrated and it certainly deserves all the hype.
BITS Pilani was able to fetch the highest average in India for any UG CS course owing to the numerous international offers that it received. I don’t consider including the international offers after converting them into Indian offers and then calculating the average as things like stocks and bonuses for subsequent years are overlooked. Thus, the resultant average is inflated and misleading. No doubt BITS is a great institute but being a private one it certainly publishes exaggerated ads and misleading figures to attract the crowd.
BITS Placement Unit is infamous for its actions and bias so the inflated figures also served the purpose of silencing the ones that criticized the unit.
The only solution to this problem is for colleges to come together and decide on a common declaration format for job offers. The Indian and international offers should be normalized according to purchasing power parity, and stocks made available after 3 years of working should not be considered part of a person's salary 'package'.
BITS Pilani CSE is a much-coveted branch because of the high packages and excellent opportunities it offers. Students of this branch have job opportunities in the IT and software industry, with many top companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Adobe visiting the campus for recruitment.
