Is it possible to get 1st division at SOL DU?

PS

It’s certainly possible to get 1st division at SOL DU. You need to secure above 60% to get 1st division. Compared to regular colleges, scoring 1st division at SOL will be a little difficult. As distance courses don’t include practicals. Although it is difficult, achieving 60+ percentile is achievable with strategic preparation.

Can I get admission into SOL DU from a Regular DU in my 2nd year?

VS

Unfortunately no, there is no provision for transfer from SOL to a regular college at University of Delhi. It is so because SOL is an institution in itself, like any other college.

You can try to migrate into some other college but you will not be granted admission if your scores in SOL exams are not very high.

The students of SOL are often looked down upon when compared to regular colleges. Your marks will be scrutinized before you are allowed to migrate to the college. Most students are turned down because that would mean an increase in the workload.

Yes, you can migrate from SOL DU to regular colleges. A few years back, the system of migration was discontinued. But now migration of students is allowed as both DU SOL and DU has semester base evaluation system.

Here is a video explaining the procedure of migration from SOL to Regular

If you have secured 60% marks in your first-year examination, then you can migrate from DU SOL to DU regular colleges.

Which university is better for a correspondence graduation IGNOU or SOL DU?

IGNOU is better for correspondence graduation. It has more courses available for correspondence graduation, compared to SOL DU. IGNOU has regional centers and examination centers all across the country. For SOL DU, you will have to visit Delhi, for examinations. In terms of coordination, availability of courses, and quality of education, IGNOU is the obvious choice for correspondence graduation.

What is the procedure for the improvement exam in Sol DU for a BA h first year?

CR

Since my brother is a student of the School of Open Learning (University of Delhi), he was able to offer better insight on the topic. Here is what he had to say about the improvement rule mandated by the institute.

  1. The only exam you are permitted to improve is the last one that you appeared for. For example, let’s say that you appeared for the B.A 2nd-year examination then it is possible to only improve it once later on. While it is not possible to implement the improvement rule on the exam, like B.A 1st-year, that you appeared in the previous year.
  2. Now, it does not necessarily matter if your score either increases or decreases because whatever you score is going to be the ultimate score you receive. The marks that you retrieve will be final and you will have to surrender the previous score when you apply for the improvement exam.

So, if you want to opt for an improvement, you need to fill the UnderTaking form. Attach your original mark sheet with the form. In case you didn’t get the original mark sheet, you can contact SOL.

How do I get a better score in the SOL DU exams?

RS

I have a few friends from SOL DU and here is their advice to get a better score in the examinations.

  • It is best that you follow the exam papers of the preceding 10 years to gain better insight into the pattern followed by the examination.
  • Following the same, you should reschedule your time and make a good routine.
  • It is recommended that you study two subjects per day, allowing extra time when required.
  • Most essentially, it is best that you study at least six days per week and try completing one entire subject in a week or less.
  • Brush your answer framing skills, alongside making time to solve as many test papers as you possibly can.

Hope this helps answer your question.

Which colleges are allotted in DU SOL?

AT
Ayush Tiwari Posted On : September 29th, 2021
Bachelor of Arts from University of Delhi (2017)

According to some of my friends who attended DU SOL, colleges are allotted but not on a frequent basis, just for Personal Contact Program classes only. These PCP classes are held in various colleges across DU and you will get assigned a college to attend these classes.

Further, they will assist you with the study material. So it's upon you whether you want to attend classes or want to study at home by yourself.

These classes are held on Saturday and Sunday. Also, these are not compulsory to attend. You won’t be able to enjoy the life of a regular student and will be able to attend only PCP classes in the allotted college.

What is SOL in DU?

KJ
Kiran Joshi Posted On : September 29th, 2021

SOL is a short form for the School of Open Learning at Delhi University. It offers admission in different UG and PG courses offered by the DU colleges. The major difference between DU and SOL is that you don’t have to attend regular college.

Here are the other differences between DU and SOL.

  • SOL provides admission in correspondence courses and you don’t actually have to attend the classes regularly.
  • Whereas in regular colleges of DU, you will have to maintain a certain percentage of attendance in order to take the internal/external exams, and hence you have to attend the colleges on a regular basis.
  • SOL is one of the best options for those who couldn’t take admission in any colleges or are dropouts or working people. Also, those who are preparing for the government exams and for a safe side want a professional degree as a backup.
  • In SOL, attendance does not matter much and you can easily take the examination which is held once a year without any problem.
  • Finishing a degree can be quite effortless since the classes are usually held on weekends and holidays.
  • SOL also provides study materials to its students. The questions asked on the term-end examination are mostly from the study materials provided by the institute.

If you are interested in SOL then you can go ahead and take admission in it; if you are working or due to other reasons you are not able to pursue your PG in a regular manner. For this, the SOL assists you with study material as well.

How tough is the DU SOL exam?

GG

The DU SOL exam is not as difficult as it seems. In fact, you are given an entire year to just study 4-5 subjects. This is easier in comparison to other courses. Moreover, the pattern of the question paper remains unchanged and questions are repeated a lot. You can even pass the exam by just going thoroughly through the 10 years' previous exam papers. Just keep the following simple points in mind to pass the DU SOL exam:

  • Study regularly. If you start studying just before the exams you might not score good marks.
  • Revise the entire syllabus at least 2 times before appearing for exams.
  • Cover important topics through 10 years of solved papers.

These simple yet important tips will not only help you pass the DU SOL exam but also get you good marks.

How is DU SOL school of open learning for a B.Com Is it hard to get 60 + marks in the final year?

Yes, DU SOL is a good option for pursuing B.Com. To score well, you will have to be self-disciplined. You need to complete the syllabus on your own with the help of teachers and instructors. This course is especially good for people doing professional courses on the side.

Scoring 60% in the final year is not that difficult. The final year syllabus has more focus on practical subjects. To score well focus on these subjects.
