My cousin sister recently graduated from Satyawati College with her English (Hons). To be precise, the experience wasn’t as pleasant as she expected. Here are some crucial insights regarding the college and faculty according to her first-hand experience.

• The faculty is not up to the mark due to the overwhelming amount of politics among themselves. 
• The cold war between the right and left-wing politics creates tension and fights between them.
• There have been instances when the faculty is too careless to even come to class. Instead, you might be marked absent for attendance, which is unacceptable.
• Once my sister submitted her assignment on time but it got lost due to the faculty’s carelessness. 
• To make matters worse, she was marked 0 for that assignment. 
• Later she found out they usually do that to students who call them out on their insincerity.

However, one of her friends did her English (Hons.) from Shyamlal College which turned out to be quite well and continued to go for higher studies in the same. But due to my sister’s awful experience at Satyawati, she eventually lost interest in the subject.

Moreover, before taking admission into any DU college you must do thorough research on its faculty. Some colleges have really awful faculty which plays a huge role in your career.

Tamil Nadu Open University the first Open University of Chennai located in the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu. The courses offered by University are recognized by UGC, NCTE, RCI, and DEB. • TNOU has vast faculty members with more than 15 years of teaching experience.

• Most of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders in their respective fields or disciples.

• All of them are very fluent in English and the local language Tamil. They always try to attend to each student separately and clear their doubts.

Placement:

• TNOU offers a variety of Seminars, Guest Lectures, webinars, Conferences, Corporate Meets, Personality Development & Communication Skills Programs, and Counselling Sessions to prepare the candidates before the placements drive.

• Till now TNOU has successfully placed 60,000 students.

• The salary packages offered to the students ranged between rupees 15000-25000 per month.

One should try to find out if the University has a good background for the degree you are seeking admission into. The university does not have to be a government university. For instance, an MBA from IGNOU and symbiosis always has a higher value than a distance MBA from any IIM but a full-time course at IIM could match nothing. So do your research and choose accordingly.
