For a 2020 batch, the placement figures are given for B-Schools are:

15.11 LPA

IIM Raipur

28.12 LPA

14.54 LPA

IIM Kashipur

45 LPA

13.82 LPA

IIM Trichy

25 LPA

14.96 LPA

IIM Udaipur

40 LPA

13.84 LPA

IIM Rohtak

24 LPA

13.70 LPA

XIMB

Considering the table above, and also as a student of IIM Ranchi, I feel you should- without a speck of doubt go for IIM Ranchi as it is evident that the placements here are brilliant.

  • This is spoken in comparison with the 6 new IIMs.
  • The figures here are at an optimum rate when compared to XIMB.
  • Other than that, things depend upon your preference aspects which may include factors like- brands that the campus visits, location, B-School competition, etc.
  • Do some prior research on your own on these aspects of yours and along with that, check the placement reports too for better clarity.

After converting, there will be no chance of you losing in any field of life as you would excel at everything you would do ahead in life. So, having said that, all the best. Do well.

What makes XIMB different from other B-Schools? Let's put it this way, why should a candidate prioritize XIMB over others?

It is ranked under the top 20 among B-schools in India. Since it was established many years ago, it has a very strong alumni base. The well-educated faculty with industrial experience gives you an edge in your learning and helps you to learn many different ways of a single situation.

As experienced by one of my cousins, the infrastructure is also very eye catchy with high-speed wifi, library, gym, and other sports facilities.

  • XIMB is a residential B-school where you spend most of your time with your seniors and batch-mates that help you to interact with different people to complete your assignments and projects.
  • Xpressions, the management fest of XIMB, is one of the biggest attractions of the management school that prepares you for managing things whether you are in an organizing team or participating team.
  • My cousin told me once that this fest is very beneficial as you see and learn many different concepts apart from your regular curriculum of management

The placement cell is very active providing 100% placements to all that give innumerable opportunities. As seen from the placement of the latest batch of 2019-21 in which my cousin got placed in a very prestigious company:

Package

Amount

Highest CTC

INR 24 LPA

Average CTC

INR 15.51 LPA

Median CTC

INR 14.5 LPA

XIMB focuses more on your overall development from the grass-roots level only that enhances your skills and makes you a perfect master not only in academics but also in co-curricular activities. The institute prepares you for all future endeavors rather than focusing on academic excellence.

Which one should I choose: 6IIMs (the so-called new IIMs, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy, Kashipur and Rajasthan) or XIMB?

SM

IIMs are any day better option for you when compared to XIMB or any other B-Schools in India. You will only spend two years of your studies there but if you focus on the long run, you are the alumni of the institute forever.

Many international guest faculties visit the campus to give you global business exposure. This doesn't mean that XIMB is a bad option, but it's just that any IIM is better among the two.

There are few points worth mentioning:

  • The brand name of IIM has a higher value.
  • You will definitely have better future prospects being a part of IIM alumni association.
  • The capacity of the institute to transform the human capital and social capital. This includes faculties, institute culture, pedagogy, events, and activities.
  • Placement opportunities are much better at IIM, due to its brand value.
  • You can easily secure a job offer, with an average package of 10-12 LPA.

At the end of the day, it's your decision to opt for the best for your future. Do consider this point of view and make a wise decision.

Is XIMB Bhubaneswar a good management college?

YA
Yash Arora Posted On : March 9th, 2023
Analyst at DebriN Synergy (company) (2015–present)

When preparing for an interview at XIMB, it is important to focus on a few key things to help you perform your best. Firstly, it is important to thoroughly revise your undergraduate subjects as this can make up a significant portion of the interview. Ensure that you have a good grasp of the technical aspects of your course and can discuss it confidently.

In addition, it is important to have a good understanding of general knowledge, including current affairs. You don't need to know everything, but having a basic understanding of what is happening in the world can be useful. Furthermore, having an opinion about current events can be even more important than your knowledge of them.

Some XIMB interviews may also include philosophical questions, so it is helpful to have a philosophical bent of mind and be able to think critically about abstract concepts. This can help you to demonstrate your ability to think deeply and creatively.

During the interview, it is important to present yourself confidently, even if you don't know the answer to a question. Be positive, as this can help you to build a good rapport with the interviewer. Remember that it's not just about what you know, but also how you present yourself and how well you can convince the interviewer of your suitability for the program.

In general, when preparing for any business school interview, it's important to have a good understanding of your domain knowledge and to keep up-to-date with daily news, particularly as it relates to business. Be prepared to discuss your work projects and know yourself well, as this will help you to answer questions confidently and authentically.

What is the level of xmgt paper for XIMB?

SB
Saunak Banerjee Posted On : April 17th, 2021
XIMB (2019)

Well, although the papers of XGMT for XIMB are not even close to the difficulty levels of CAT/XAT but somewhat as same as that of TISS/SNAP or could be a bit tougher than CMAT.

  • Almost 70-80% of the paper can be solved without facing many complications.
  • There are sectional timings.
  • It is a total of 2 hours of paper, where there are four sections EQ+GK, DI, QA, VA+LR overall, and equal timings are not divided for each section.
  • The VA and EQ section might be a little tricky but not hard.

You should be clear with your basics to be ready for the examination.

Is it wise decision to spend 22L in two years for MBA from XIMB, if we look at the placement and salary package?

RA
Rituparna Aich Posted On : April 19th, 2021
Studied at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar

Strictly speaking, for the year 2021-23, the total course fee including the hostel charges comes out to be INR 20,67,000 excluding the mess charges for the MBA in Business Management (MBA-BM) course at XIMB Bhubaneswar.

The decision to spend these 22 Lakhs in two years is worth it, if you do not fall in any of these categories.

  • If you have other top college converts that have considerably low fees such as JBIMS or FMS.
  • If you have a better percentile than required to be at XIMB Bhubaneswar and you can convert IIMs especially the older IIMs.

Now, if you do not fall in the above two categories, then XIMB Bhubaneswar is a very good option. Some of the reasons for the same are –

The institute attracts many top companies to its campus for recruitment.

Parameters

SIBM Pune

XIMB Bhubaneswar

Highest CTC

INR 34.26 LPA

INR 26 LPA

Average CTC

INR 20.14 LPA

INR 15.42 LPA

Median CTC

INR 18.50 LPA

INR 15 LPA

Number of participating companies

  • The rigorous curriculum, totaling 105 credits in two years, will teach you a lot about business management through classroom learning, summer internship, project works, and field visits.
  • You will enjoy a sweet social life at the institute with various clubs and committees. Corporate B-school competitions will become part of your life where you will learn as well as have fun.

Thus, XIMB Bhubaneswar is really a very good institute that will propel your career if you have the interests and do your work properly.

Is so much reservation 50% for Odisha Domicile justified for XIMB? Does that affect the batch quality?

SS
Subhashree Sengupta Posted On : April 17th, 2021
MBA from XIMB

The basic question here comes up is "Does reservations put the higher education system under any loss or such changes due to it?". This is the most generally discussed question. People often end up thinking students who come through reservation are not that skillful compared to those who do not.

Both the reserved and unreserved categories of students are offered an equal distribution or quality of education throughout their academic years, there is no partiality done in between both the categories teaching-wise or score expectation-wise. Faculties do not give an easy project to the reserved ones neither the unreserved ones get a hard one. It does not matter who belongs from the reserved or unreserved category, everyone has to put their same effort to meet the expectations of the program, so in the overall process, no one can drag down the batch quality.

It is acceptable that reservation does unjust to a few of the worthy ones who do not get their deserved education or career despite qualifying or having the expected scores, but it is wrong to think that due to this the reserved ones need to suffer.

Let's take a look at XIMB's certain cases of reservations.

  • XIMB reservations are far better than institutes that are run by the government such as the IIMs, where SC + ST + OBC reservation categories easily acquire more than 50% of its reservations.
  • XIMB has space only for domicile reservations and there no reservations are made based on caste, creed, etc.

Besides, if we look up the difference in cutoff between general and reserved category students in IIM or a Govt. run institutes and the difference in cutoff between XIMB domicile and the students who do not belong from the domicile category, it can be seen that the difference is more pronounced in the case of the former.

Is it true that XIMB doesn't have 100% summer internship placements? If not, what do the remaining do?

SS
Souvick Sharma Posted On : April 19th, 2021
Studied MBA in Human Resource Management at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2019)

Summer internships are part of the curriculum at XIMB and are graded with a certain number of credits. So, it is necessary for every student to do a summer internship compulsorily. Thus it is made sure by the institute itself that every student gets an internship for the summers. So, it is entirely false that XIMB does not have 100% summer internship placements. Some students do find better offers than given in the campus placements and thus they opt out of the process. Otherwise, placements are handled by the institute itself.

Also, do not think of summer internships as final placements. You may not get an internship at a reputed company, but you will get an internship for sure. Final placements are a whole different game than summer placements. There have been instances where students who have done internships at smaller companies have landed top jobs during final placements. So, it actually matters less which company you did an internship for, rather grades, business acumen is more important for final placements. You should focus on studies, participating in business school competitions to hone your skills and you will definitely do well in your placements.

Is rural management from XIMB - 3 years work experience with TCS worth it?

AK
Anjini Kumar Posted On : April 20th, 2021
Ph.D. in Strategic Management, Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (2020)

Firstly, it is important to understand what management means to you. Yes, just like People going to Microsoft or Google post-Engineering were passionate about coding/computers vis-a-vis those who opted for say a TCS/Wipro. Therefore, if a Management education is an escape route from the monotonous coding life, do not go for this degree. Simply because after a few years of working, you might find yourself in a regretful situation.

Now coming to XIMB, Bhubaneswar as a college, these are the key highlights.

  • The colleges have an impeccable infrastructure.
  • The faculty is great.
  • Great campus culture
  • Good placements

However, check the following reasons why you should not go for the Rural Management course.

  • The Rural Management course requires a lot of fieldwork and expedition which won’t suffice the basic ROI model.
  • The course is shifted to the other campus which is situated in a suburban area. This is a huge downfall as you might be curtailed from important facilities and infrastructure.
  • Placement may not be that great, having invested 13 lacs as the course fee itself. With mediocre placement records, this might not be a good return on your investment.
  • With a 3 year experience in TCS and a continuous C band, the salary you have now will be more or less equal to what you might get after placements. Hence, it won’t make a huge difference.
  • Undoubtedly, the scope for courses like Rural Management is limited, that’s why most people who acquire an RM degree go for corporate jobs at last.

Categories

Rural Management in XIMB

Course Fee

13.80 lakh

Highest CTC

13.2 LPA

Average CTC

9 LPA

Overall, if you are very much into the management sector, go for courses like MBA and other PGDM courses instead of Rural Management. Limited scope, extensive fieldwork, mediocre placements is not a good return when you pay such a high fee. Hence, choose wisely.
