AOT Hooghly is often talked about but it is very overrated. The cutoff and the closing rank are not good.
Haldia Institute, on the other hand, is a much better option. You will definitely feel a difference here. CSE is the best branch here and great opportunities are offered by the institute. There’s a 100% guarantee that most of the students will be placed without any trouble. None of the students regrets their decision to come here and study.
Both Haldia Institute of Technology and JUET Guna are quite similar in terms of the infrastructure they offer, curriculum, and quality of teaching. If you have to pick the best out of two, HIT Haldia weighs slightly more than JUET-Guna.
Following are the few points to back the preference of HIT Haldia:
Categories | Civil at HIT Haldia | Civil at JUET Guna |
Course Fee | 3.95 lakhs | 7.28 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 15 LPA | 12 LPA |
Average CTC | 7-8 LPA | 7-8 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | Ambuja Cement, IOCL, L&T, Simplex, etc. | Aricent, L&T, SAP, JK Lakshmi Cement, etc. |
These are a few perks of choosing Haldia institute of technology over JUET Guna. But in the end, it's your preference, so opt for the best for yourself.
Haldia Institute of Technology is best known for its hostels among all of the state colleges in West Bengal. The best part about the hostels is that there are separate buildings year-wise and everyone literally enjoys this facility.
The food at the mess is good when compared to most of the hostels. However, it cannot match the taste with home-cooked food.
The staff and the workers of the hostels are very kind and help through any problem a student faces in the hostel property. Every student from HIT misses the experience of the hostel of this institute. Just try to be positive and enjoy your hostel life to the best of your best.
There are very few core companies that visit the campus of Haldia Institute of Technology to recruit students enrolled in Instrumentation and Control engineering courses.
Categories | Instrumentation and Control Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology |
Placement Percentage | 60-70% |
Highest CTC | 7.5 LPA |
Average CTC | 3.5 LPA |
It is suggested that you extract out all of the benefits you can out of the placement cell of the institute. The standard of teaching and the methodologies followed at the institute can be considered to be above average. You can always perform well by putting in effort and by working hard.
You need to look for internship opportunities on your own and arrange industrial training.
There are limited branches such as ECE, CSE where the students are provided with internships and industrial training programs inside the college campus.
Electrical Engineering is more about the field jobs so most of the students select the internship outside the campus. There are industry opportunities provided by Barauni Refinery, IOCL, Begusarai. Most of the students manage their internships by themselves rather than depending on the IOCL. You can send a mail to IOCL with all the information about you.
HIT has maintained its reputation in terms of internships. It will be either from you or by default from the college HIT.
One of my brothers was placed in a prominent company through on-campus placement. As per his experience, CGPA isn’t required for the process of getting a good job.
He scored 9 CGPA and many of his friends scored less than him yet they were successfully placed in prominent companies. The reason behind this is that marks hardly matters when recruiters visit campus moreover, they are all focused on your knowledge and skills.
Getting a good placement is definitely a dream for all the engineers but you definitely have to brush up on your skills and knowledge before sitting for the recruitment process.
Based on what I heard through my friends at the Haldia Institute of Technology, the institute does not provide students with a laptop. There are several computer labs that are made available to the students to use the services. The professors impart knowledge related to your computer science subjects in these labs. The computer labs are sometimes accessed by non-computer science students as well.
Nevertheless, you are allowed to keep a laptop of your own for personal and academic purposes.
Haldia Institute of Technology is a decent institute. If you are interested in civil engineering then you should rather continue with your preparation for the JEE. I say this based on the conversation I had with my friends from HIT.
Therefore, it is advisable to opt for other colleges in Kolkata for any core branch rather than the Haldia Institute of Technology. If there is a possibility or you believe that you could get into NITs or IITs then go for a year drop to try out your best luck. Otherwise, do not take a risk with it.
Placement for core branches is not good irrespective of which private institute you belong to. So, if you are choosing a private institute make sure that it is in a location from where you can easily take coaching for competitive examinations such as GATE or ESE.
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University and Haldia Institute of Technology both are engineering institutes. Some of my friends have been students of both of the institutes thus, I can provide a clear picture about which one’s better.
Thus the choice ultimately depends on you. Choose which will suit you better, has easier transportation, better infrastructure, and facilities, and will help shape your career as both are equally good.
Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology used to be one of the best courses at the institute. But with years the condition of this branch has gotten worse. The old faculty members have retired. The current faculty base is not that great.
I have a few friends from the institute and according to them, if you are keen on exploring the field of chemistry then Haldia would not be one of your best choice institutes. But the placements here are decent. In the 2020 placements, the highest and average CTC offered was 3.5 LPA and 24 LPA.
