How can I change my branch in VTU?

BS
Banita Singh, Posted On : November 2nd, 2021
B.E from Visvesvaraya Technological University (2022)

In order to change your branch, you need to be a 3rd-semester student without any backlogs in the previous 2 semesters. If you satisfy these criteria then go through the following steps:

  • Consider talking to your faculty advisor (proctor) in your present department and highlight the reasons for your change of branch.
  • Take his/her permission and signature on your application addressed to your Head of Department (HoD).
  • If you do not have a faculty advisor (proctor) then, directly talk to your HOD highlighting your interest in the new branch you aspire to change and then take his/her permission and signature on your application.
  • If the HoD agrees, then he/she will forward your letter to the Principal.
  • Once you get it approved by the principal, you need to go to your college's administrative office.
  • Pay the VTU fees (INR 2500) and required semester college fees (depends on your college).

After this, you will have successfully completed the procedure.

What happens if you fail in a subject in the final year of engineering at VTU?

AM
Argha Mitra Posted On : May 24th, 2022
BE from Visvesvaraya Technological University (2017)

If you fail in a subject in the final year of Engineering at VTU, you will get a year back. You will have to wait another year to clear the subject. You won’t get your degree until you clear all the subjects.

Attaching a video for reference to understand the process

However, the final year subjects are easier compared to the rest of the year engineering subjects. You can clear the subjects easily if you put in a little bit of effort.

Should I apply for VTU revaluation?

AP
Ansh Patel, Posted On : November 2nd, 2021
studied at Visvesvaraya Technological University (2016)

One of my friends applied for revaluation in 7 semesters for more than 20 subjects. His scores also increased. The only thing to keep in mind is to apply for it if you are confident that your answers are not checked properly and deserve better marks.

Consider these points before applying:

  • Go ahead with it only if it feels extremely necessary.
  • Mainly review the questions you have answered and left, Check the answers again.
  • See the scoring pattern of your classmates selectively.
  • Check the University analysis on the subject in ‘fast VTU results’.
  • Your presentation of answers on that day.
  • Discuss it with your faculty.
  • Judge the gap in mindset between you and the 1st evaluator (If you are familiar with it).

Make a wise decision. Do not fall for rumors, apply only if you are confident about it.

VTU had recently cancelled the year back system. Does it apply for CBCS students too?

PM
Padipta Mukharjee Posted On : May 16th, 2022
BE from Visvesvaraya Technological University (2019)

VTU hasn’t canceled the year-back system. You will still get a year back if you get more than four backlogs in a year. But having backlogs previous to the previous year won’t result in a year-back. The rules are as follows.

  • Students who have less than four backlogs in the first two semesters are eligible for the second year.
  • Students who have less than four backlogs in the four semesters of the first year and second year are eligible to move to the third year.
  • Students who have the required credits for first year and don’t have more than four backlogs in four semesters of second and third year are eligible for fourth year.

So, you will still get a year-back, if you have more than four backlogs in an academic year.

Which university is best, VTU or Anna University?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : December 28th, 2022
B,Tech in Information Technology & Computing, Anna University, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2012)

This question is extremely challenging to address. However, by examining a few statistics, you can determine which university is superior.

First and foremost, both of these institutions are Technical Universities for their respective states. If VTU is the Technical University of Karnataka, Anna is the Technical University of Tamil Nadu. This means that all engineering institutions in the state (colleges and not deemed or private universities) are affiliated with these Universities (with very few exceptions). In 1978, Anna University in Chennai was established as a separate university. Anna University was founded 44 years ago. VTU was founded in 1998 as a full-fledged technical university, and it is now 24 years old.

When it comes to student satisfaction at both of these universities, Anna University receives more positive feedback than VTU. In addition, in terms of university controversies and irregularities, VTU has had many problems, corruption, chaos, and friction in the last decade, whereas Anna University has been more peaceful, regular, and flawless in recent times. Anna University is the only technical university in India that has awarded the most PhDs, whereas VTU Ph.D. is a never-ending process due to the University's extreme irregularities. Anna University has some disadvantages, but it is slightly better than VTU.

While choosing an engineering college in karnataka shall I go for autonomous or VTU?

MG
Monica Garg Posted On : October 1st, 2022
Studied Computer Science and Engineering at Malnad College of Engineering

If you are getting admission into a reputed college, it’s better to choose autonomous rather than VTU The syllabus and the academic calendar are made by the college. The course structure is flexible enough for pursuing internships and other courses.

VTU syllabus is old and outdated. The coursework also doesn’t leave much time for doing anything other than academics.

B.E Electronics and Communication Engineering,Visvesvaraya Technological University

I have a few friends from VTU and according to them, you can check the status of your transcript on the official website of the institute.

  • When you first visit the site, look to the right for the area below.
  • In the second box, enter the GSC number (which starts with UE and is 15 alphanumeric digits long) that was sent to your cell phone.
  • Your transcript's status page will be routed to this site.

I hope this information is useful.

Is REVA University better than VTU?

TG
Tridha Ghose Posted On : October 11th, 2021
B.Tech from REVA University (2020)

Reva University is a very reputed institute and is much better than VTU in terms of course curriculum, faculty, and placements.

  • The faculty of Reva is very good and they have years of experience in teaching. They have better educator collaborations than VTU and in this university, the person who teaches you also evaluates your question paper.
  • Reva University allows its students to take part in various cultural fests which helps you to learn many new skills.
  • Reva University also has a decent placement record. According to the recent highlights the average CTC offered at the institute is 6 LAP.
  • The scenario is completely different at VTU. The faculty teaching the students are not very experienced.
  • The course curriculum of VTU is not very good as it has an obsolete schedule and is not updated and refreshed regularly according to the industry standards.

Hence, Reva University will be a better institute than VTU in terms of almost everything and you can enjoy your college life better at Reva University.
